Guest echtrae Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 The truth is finally out. Though, admittedly, I've never liked Aquafina. I've always felt it had a nasty aftertaste. Aquafina Labels: It's Tap Water Quote
Leonhart29 Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 And this is news? Federal law states that water must have it's source printed on the label - Aquafina was just sneaky about it. All the water down here has "From Houston Municipal Water" Printed on it - unless of course it's Aquafina. Quote
madlodger Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 H2O is H2O. Why are we so surprised? At least it's filtered. Wonder what sort of filter they used. Quote
redsliver Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Aquafina's filters are less potent than New York City's tap water filtration. Actually most bottled water is more contaminated than what you'd get from your tap if your municipality has upgraded its reservoir, filtration and delivery systems since 2000. Quote
Guest Alien Pirate Pixagi Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Mmmm, New York City water.... The same is true for Dasani, it's local tap that's been processed. Quote
redsliver Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Its true for most all bottled water. There's only one universal question that elicits negative responses: How's the tap water in your city? Quote
foeofthelance Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Pretty good actually. Most people I know prefer refilling from the tap rather then buying a new bottle. Quote
madlodger Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I suppose that buying a less than 1 micron filter would be better than purchasing bottled water cost-wize and quality-wize. My tap water is pretty clean. Quote
Leonhart29 Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I wish mine was - I have a case of the giggles every time I drive into town and see "Superior Water" on the little green and white sign. The water's usually brown. Quote
madlodger Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 The water's usually brown Do you have to filter it and boil or just buying bottled water for cooking? Do white clothes turn brown in washing? Quote
ZombieDuke Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Actually most bottled water is more contaminated than what you'd get from your tap if your municipality has upgraded its reservoir, filtration and delivery systems since 2000. I'm on well water Quote
Guest Alien Pirate Pixagi Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I'm on well water ...Ew Well water is subject to all kinds of grossness, not limited to animal dropping. If ANYTHING contaminates the soil, you're drinking it. Quote
redsliver Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I'm on well water too, still very clean... until someone neglects a filling septic tank... ew. Quote
Leonhart29 Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 We are installing a water filtration system at the ranch so our water will be better than what the others have to deal with around me. At the moment there is a warning out in Runnels county on the water bills - we're under yellow alert for contamination - which means (and I quote) "The old, infirm, ill or very young should not drink, cook with, or bathe in the water". We buy bottled water for cooking and drinking while we're out there and then travel back to the house in town if we're going to shower or do laundry. Which really sucks as the water heater at the ranch works great but the one here in town is currently in residence in the back yard and has become a plaything for the dogs. Quote
Guest Big Samurai Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Lucky for me, I only go for generic bottled water, but ... sheesh, between that chili recall and news like this, I wonder what I've really been eating and drinking for the past few years. Quote
Guest echtrae Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 Personally, there are only a few bottled waters that I tend to purchase when I do purchase such things. Quote

We have our own filter system, but, let me tell you there's something wrong when the homes that have local government filtration systems are contaminated and well water is the only safe source for water Quote
