  1. proper panic pandemonium rules
  2. It would go in to the comics subdomain to start with. yes, I can create a top level of Comic Strips in that subdomain. Already have one for webcomics. You need a category of Little Orphan Annie in it as well, correct?
  3. As your stories are OFF site, please don't use our forum for review replies.
  4. sorry for the delay, been occupied with scripting issues. email is removed from the review
  5. Firstly, I'd like to welcome all the new users we're seeing daily! Glad to have you here! Please do familiarize yourself with the Terms of Service and Content Guidelines. This IS a moderated archive. Server Upgrade Thank you to all of you for your patience through the process. We all appreciate it! I still have some minor things to do relating to it, but nothing that should affect overall site performance. As to why this was done, in order to implement things that we want to implement, the core languages needed to be upgraded. To upgrade the languages, the server OS itself needed to be updated to the latest version. This required a new build, on a new server. It also meant I fell behind on normal stuff I do for the site. Working on getting all that caught up now. Dribs, Drabs and Doggy Tales Current weekly prompt is here Funding Status As always, we appreciate and thank everyone who can donate. It's certainly not required of the users, but every little bit helps! As a side note, when the site falls short in funds, I end up taking care of it out of pocket. So far, it hasn't been TOO awful, in that it hasn't completely destroyed my budget every month, but still, it's an expense I hadn't allowed for personally, for a long time. Birthday Verifier page Is now defunct! You do have a standard cookie setter to access each subdomain, but that's an easy one. Click the “I'm 18 or older” link and that sets the cookie. No more filling the thing out! Age Verification If, in the course of checking ages of the members, a user is asked to prove their age, it is kept confidential, and the information not kept for records. One of us simply needs to SEE it to verify, much as when someone is carded. Deletion notification For Accounts When deleting an account because the user is underage, a plagiarist, or whatever else would be a reason to delete one entirely, we do NOT send a notification. For Stories When deleting stories, this is done for non compliance with the ToS. Stories are HIDDEN long before they are deleted. The user is told there is an issue, and given 7 days to comply before the story is hidden. Upon hiding, the story is left for 30 or more days (it ends up being more when I have a heavy work load IRL) before it is deleted. If the issue is CORRECTED, the story is restored to public view. Disposable email Disposable emails are not checked, and we don’t allow registration with them. Upon finding an account registered with a disposable email address, it is deleted. Email address visibility By default, the email address is hidden when you register. It will only display if you put it in the bio area of your profile. In the review boards, if you are asked for your email address when leaving one, you are NOT logged in. If you don’t want your email address visible there, input the word private INSTEAD of your email address. Forum and archive These are separate programs. Being separate programs, they also require SEPARATE registration. In other words, registering for one or the other does NOT register you for both. Disabling anonymous reviews As a matter of course, while the authors cannot choose this for themselves, anon reviews are enabled on a daily basis. If you don’t WANT to have this enabled, email at technicalsupport@adult-fanfiction.org with a link to your profile, and a subject line of “disable anon reviews”. Bear in mind that when I do this, as this is controlled by the profile, ALL your stories will then require that a user be logged in to leave a review. Tech Bits Archive rewrite We are entering the final phase of this. Please understand that both manta2g and I work full time and then some. It's been a rough couple of years for BOTH of us on that end. That being the case, that means that what we do will slow down, as we do need to take care of our real life obligations first. Transitional tasks- These are functions that normally the user would do, but while parts of the software are still the old stuff, it falls to me. Anonymous reviews turned on/off – The default is to disallow. I run a query daily to ALLOW them. If you DON'T want them enabled for you, email me and I'll make the adjustment. Old format profile – This is currently inaccessible for user edits. Users can only edit the new profile. So, if there is information in your old style profile that you want gone, again, email me and I will take care of it. Tech support, directions given Just to reiterate, when I email out step by step DIRECTIONS on how to do something, that is exactly what they are. Not suggestions, but directions. If followed as stepped out, it works very well. This means that the user must follow them in the order the steps are given. Please remember that the authors you read do like to hear from you! Leave them a review or two, and let them know how they're doing! DemonGoddess061
  6. When you add a story, you select "text area". This brings up the rich text editor. In the rich text editor, you click the icon for paste from word (after you have copied the chapter to your clipboard using select all (ctrl+a) and then ctrl+c). Press ctrl+v and this will copy your doc to the text window. The only file upload allowed is straight text, and you need to have at least rudimentary html knowledge to encapsulate your text and format it, or you end with wallotext. Once the storyboard part of the archive rewrite is completed, NO actual file uploads will be allowed.
  7. Nope, it has to do with Chrome being more forgiving of programming errors in many for instances. Although Chrome can get right testy about big boo-boos, minor stuff, it ignores. This was ONE sentence in one of the linked files, so Chrome ignored the redirect loop. It went by the master files, not the the subordinate file.
  8. Don't feel bad. I appreciate your thanks!
  9. Nope, was actually a bad redirect in an unexpected file. As the database works with scripts to be relational, ONE bad command in a linked file will screw it all up. It should be working now in all browser. The search function for members from your profile is currently not quite right, not sure what's going on there yet. We're working on it, too. BUT, to search a member from within any given archive does work. So that means there is more stuff that has to be done yet, but manta is already aware of the issues with the new code deprecation as well. The IMPORTANT thing was to get the site loading again, stop the time outs, and make it so the archive was once again accessible, which it was not. The last BIG software upgrade is the forum itself. As this is a major, from one version to the next, and up a couple versions in language for scripts and database, we pay for licensing and assistance, so IPS will do this one FOR me. I'm capable of doing it myself, but I'm more comfortable with THEM doing it, because they have snippets available that I would not.
  10. Edge is working. I refuse to use Firefux anymore ('tis a resource piggy). The oddball redirect issue is fixed. Was in a file that was not obvious for it to be in.
  11. Thank you! Manta and I appreciate this. The patch is done for the oddball redirect. The upgrade is something that we've been doing for a few years, a bit at a time. The code was originally Storyline, which is defunct. I've, over the years, looked at many other packages, hoping we wouldn't have to go from scratch with this. After much trying and hair pulling because it wasn't working (my own server, offsite), we determined the best way to go, to KEEP the data, was to rewrite it all. That's something manta does, primarily. There is one last phase to do, and that part will cost the site $750.00USD. However, we were running in to glitches, which led to the server upgrade in the FIRST place. As we both work, and have heavy real life obligations, at times, what either of us can do slows down significantly. Simply BECAUSE of our real life obligations. I can do plenty on my own, but I can tell you for certain, without manta, none of this would work. This is why she's the primary, and I merely help on the coding end. MY thing is databases, so it's a good partnership.
  12. USE CHROME!!!!!
  13. Okay. Let me be real clear on this. Until I fix the deprecated command in every fecking php file in the archive, use Chrome exclusively. Chrome is not having this issue. I CANNOT do this at work. I work during the day. My days vary. I usually get home about 4:30. Today I got home a little earlier. So, I will be getting on this very shortly. I've heard from Nexcess, it isn't the Apache setting. It's DEFINITELY the deprecated command. By the way, this is the command that tells php that the file IS php. Hence the having to go through every file and adding three letters to it.
  14. Did you not READ anything??? I just now got home from WORK. I WORK during the day. This means I can't do anything at all with this. I said this morning I would take care of all this AFTER WORK.
  15. Until I get home from work, and can replace the string which is causing issues in most browsers, USE CHROME.

I guess we got lucky it finished before the BBS clients started being unleashed!

  16. For now, until I get confirmation on an Apache setting from the hosting company, and also until I manually go through each file and correct one last deprecated command, use Chrome. You won't have those issues.
  17. Edge isn't slow loading for me, but I was able to duplicate the not clicking in to a story thing, and being redirected to the latest listing instead. There are two things that need to be checked. One has to be checked by the hosting company, as they have access to the Apache settings on the server, and we do not. The other is to see if there is one other deprecated function. -- on edit --- okay, the deprecated function is definitely an issue, it appears. I'll have to fix this after work though. In the meantime, until I get home, and go through all the scripts and make this correction, use Chrome.
  18. When you do clear cache and cookies, you must close and restart the browser in question. "The page isn't redirecting properly" is a COOKIE error, so please clear the cookies too.
  19. IE is end of life. That's why Microsoft released Edge, because IE has many, many issues they're not interested in fixing. Having said that, this page has detailed instructions on how to do this for IE. Personally, I'd ditch the browser and go with Chrome. But, I've been saying THAT for years.
  20. what browser are you using? cache is not the same as browser history. What you can do also is try a forced refresh which will also clear the cache for the page you're trying to reach. To do that, hold down ctrl, and then press F5
  21. clear your cache, because the story links work fine
  22. hp goes to hp. I just checked
  23. Nope, the archive are accessible. I did say to give us about 10 to 15 minutes ya know, to fix the redirect issue.
  24. give us another 5 to 10 minutes, there was a path mix up which is being corrected as I type this.
