Obviously you can't really avoid going home at some point or another, so staying elsewhere would definitely be best.

I think maybe for non affiliated players, I can make generic stripe/chevron type insignia, and use the awards mod to add them to the user profile. Or, could look into a different mod to add those images as well (I do believe there is one for that sort of thing, but I have to check to be sure). I'll also set a specific size, and they will have to be small, for the insignia in general. Then once I figure out if there's another mod that will handle this task, rather than using the awards mod; I'll have you guys email them to me so I can ftp the images and then start editing the users to show their ranks.

I'd actually give them their first set of rank insignia at 2, then wait until level 5 before increasing it. By then, they should be well and truly hooked, and then rank could advance at, say, every 10 to 15 levels, once you hit a certain point, that would have to increase. In other words, you want insignia with your rank, you gotta WORK for it. A side thought, what about guild specific rank insignia? that could be done as well.

I think I'm going to remove all restrictions. Did that on my own board, and it helped. changes are as follows: no limit on up or down level of you for ability to attack no limit on user activity as far as being able to attack that user. In other words, if the user hasn't been active EVER, you can still attack. Doesn't matter. Time for some carnage!!

Okay, the thing with the store mod, is the writer just released a bug fix. This should fix a number of issues. Particularly interest collection which is a little whacked, and has been since the thing was written. It's never worked quite right. There are other things with the store that are in use, that have been reported as bugs here (and I then reported 'em to the mod writer), as well as other KNOWN bugs for some functions/items I've not even bothered to add or implement because I KNEW those particular functions were buggy. Anyway, I'm hoping to get to it today, but that's kind of doubtful, to be honest. I'm in the middle of a 50+ hour work week, and am more than a little tired. Aside from that, there are a few problems with the bugfix so the mod maker is correcting them, so I am choosing to wait on him for that as well (he said he'd have it uploaded later today). I'd rather have it all go right, the first time, instead of having the thing create problems in an attempt to squash the bugs. So, I'm hoping after I get some sleep that he'll have the updated file ready so I can get this done.

I dunno that I would say your paranoid. I can see where you would be anticipating more stressful news upon your return home though. It's been the pattern the last few times you've gone home. As to talking to your advisor, you may want to anyway. If you're having problems at home which affect your grades, that is what your advisor is for, to help you. Maybe he/she can come up with something to help you cope better.

I reduced the amount of points that the system automatically awards (200 per day) because we have the bank. But, for new users, should they choose to participate, they would need the extra for potions and such. You don't get that many for posting, if you think about it. hmmmm..... maybe bribery'll work in getting more players??

That kind of shit happens entirely too much. When I was in a supervisory position (did that for a long time), BECAUSE of my work ethic, I found I was intolerant of laziness, and sloughing things off on the other person because that other person would not only do their job, but the lazy one's job as well if necessary. I fired people like that. Never expected anyone to work in the same manner that I do, but jeez, you're paid to work. Not sit with your thumb up your ass and a phone glued to your ear. At the very least, do what your job requires of you, ya know? I do understand and realize most people won't go out of their way to do that extra little bit. I do it because if I don't keep busy, I get bored. so....now it's Monday part three for me tonight.....ugh

I think it has more to do with unrealistic scenarios in things that kids are being made to read these days, and have been made to read in the past, and how it influences their behavior. People are people. People are FLAWED at best. I grew up in a family full of strong people, men and women. Strength is determined by how you handle things, especially adversity, more than it is by some silly book on a reading list, and how a fictional character behaves. The PROBLEM is portraying unrealistic behaviors to impressionable youngsters. If the schools really want to show good examples of strong humanity, they should be having them read about real people that have overcome problems, reached their goals in spite of those problems. THAT would be something that they could benefit from. No fairy tales, no uber bitches, no mega princes. Just real people who've achieved something.

Considering how many years I've been administering and moderating forums? Yep, for years. All the time. Some of the horse boards I belong to are worse for rule breaking than any other communities I belong to.

NPCs would be nice, but they're not doable with this mod. What I could do is remove the downward restrictions, make it no limit; and see if maybe by attacking, we get some more players. It's a thought, anyway.
