Am done with the InuYasha archive. The specific pair categories can now be found as a subcategory of their type of pair (i.e. het, yaoi, yuri). DarkFics is now a subcategory of General. New categories: AU Threesomes/Moresomes ----- Starting on the Naruto zone next. It's actually going to be relatively simple comparatively. Some category title edits at the upper level, the additon of specific pair categories to the pair type categories, and the Shouta category will have its fics moved to the appropriate categories after that. Reason being that that is technically a story tag (and available as a one, if memory serves), not a true category.

In general, your story would go to fandom it's written for. If it's an original work, though, it would go in the originals zone/subdomain, as it is not a fan fiction. General Category Stories that would go in that category in a fandom, would be something that is a story that is set in the fandom's world, but without emphasis on a romantic pair. Say an action/adventure type story, for example, that's set in a fandom's universe. AU - Alternate Universe Category These would be stories that involve characters for a fandom, in an alternate universe. If a story is AU, regardless of pairing TYPE, THIS is where it belongs. Pair Type Categories (het, slash/yaoi, femslash/yuri) If your story contains many pairs, as is often the case, WHERE your story would go is determined by who the main pair is. Then, if there is a subcategory that lists that pairing, it would go to that subcategory. Threesomes/Moresomes These are stories that have 3 or more as the focal point rather than a pair. It can be a mix of sexes, or all one sex. The only requirement for selection would be 3 or more. Crossovers Say, for example, your story is a crossover between InuYasha and Harry Potter. It takes place in feudal Japan, the main pair are InuYasha characters. Your story would then go into the InuYasha archive's crossover section. Round Robins You know that toggle that lets you have other users add to your story, or not? That is how you'd do a round robin fic. So, they have their OWN categories.

Is now a top level category in the anime zone

Actually, the way you would determine what pair specific category you story belongs in, is who the main couple is. I've read plenty of fics where there are multiple couples, but the category they belong in (and are generally in) is the one for the main pairing. Now, I've noticed you put the English name with the Japanese name in parentheses. Would that be easier if that's how I set up the categories as well? -
A pairing specific category is determined by the main couple of your story. I am not familiar with this fandom, so you guys could give me some pairs to work with, maybe? As to the order of the names, it doesn't necessarily have to indicate seme/uke, although that would be ideal. If I did that, I'd have multiple pairing categories for the same pair. You can always use that in the DESCRIPTION for your stories you know.

I'm assuming these are all f/f pairs? You guys gotta tell me that too. -
I'm still working on it, as I posted on my progress report. It takes a lot longer to move the categories downward, and you have to remember I also work full time as well. So, I do this in between work and sleep. Started the Inu cat yesterday, I expect to finish it up the majority of it some time tomorrow (It doesn't hurt that I'm off work and have more time tomorrow). At least that's what my target is. And yes, you're early on why they're not there yet. Rest assured, they will live in their proper pair type categories. Oh yeah, you'd asked for an Inu/Rin category awhile back, if you look it's a sub of het. I have 203 more het fics to move, and since I moved over 700 this morning, I do expect to keep within my time frame. After I finish moving the het stories into the subcats created for them, then the yaoi pair categories will be tackled next. If you take a look at the Bleach archive, or one of the top categories in anime or games (i.e. Death Note or FF8), that is the actual schema I'm following for the main categories.
-
Working on InuYasha now, you will notice that the specific pairs are now having their locations changed, to be sub categories in the pairing type category that they belong to. This is a bit more convoluted, as the utility I'm using has no problems with mass moving things UP a level, but down a level is another story. So I gotta go about it a bit differently, and it takes more time.

Thanks for the heads up, it'll be researched and dealt with according to what is found.

Okay, you see to the left where you put games as the category? Click the go button, THEN upload your fic. Until you hit that button, you will stay in whatever subdomain you're already in. You'll notice once you click the go button after selecting games, that the path will change in your address bar from anime.adult-fanfiction.org to games.adult-fanfiction.org

I suppose that would depend on one's own personal brand of humor and what they favor, wouldn't it? Me, I like sarcastic humor, so I tend to pick up on it. -

Oh, can add subcats that are pair specific now as well. I just need to know what those are. Also, tried adding a top level forum link and it didn't work dammit. I'll have to see how else we can go about doing that. -
I think that could maybe be done in submenus of that archive section. I'll see what I can do
-
really, they're not. They're just being moved DOWN a level, into the appropriate pair type main category
-
Done with Bleach, Final Fantasy, and Games subdomains. FF7, FF8, FFX are now top level categories. Kingdom Hearts and Zelda are now top level categories. Meaning you'll find them in the menu block to the left when in that section. With the addition of actual pairs to Bleach, FF7 and FF8, one can now move their stories to the appropriate sub subs.

I think you'd probably want to pick the archive where it's actually set. For example, if the crossover is set in the movie's timeline/location and all that, but contains characters from the game as well, you'd put it in movie crossovers. Also, you should factor in the main pairing (if there is one) as to placement. Again, if the main pair in your story actually belongs to the movie, while sub pairs belong to the game, this points to movie crossovers as well. Make sense?

I leave for a couple of months and wthf?
DemonGoddess replied to Shinju's topic in Personal Rants & Journals
her personal choice, actually. Beyond that, you'll have to pm me. -
that requires more advanced html formatting. Not a possibility, so is NOT going to happen. As to why the more advanced html within posted data is not possible, quite simply, it poses a serious security risk to any php scripted program. It's for the same reason why you'll never see html allowed here in the forum. Yeah, the "daily moment of down time" gets on my nerves from time to time. Especially when I'm in the middle of DOING something ....so gotta be ever mindful of the clock at that time of the morning so I'm not in the database and doing some work when that hits. ugh. Plus, I like to read while I'm working so it irks me even more then. ah well, shit happens....and it's only for 15 minutes or so.

Sarcastic humor m'dear -
When you are adding a story, you have to be sure that the drop down to the left is set to the zone/subdomain you want to upload TO, first. For example, it defaults to anime. Make sure you select the right one first, in this for instance, GAMES. Then select Misc Video Games, then Crossovers after it asks you for that. In the meantime, I have no way to move the stories from one subdomain to another without losing any reviews or ratings you may have gotten. So, if you re upload it to the correct spot, I can merge any attached review and rate data and then delete the misplaced story.

Scared to death of spiders. It took the FIRST 30 years of my life to not run away screaming rom the things. Heights, but it's weird how that works. Unnatural objects that are tall freak me out, like ladders. Yet I can climb trees without problems. Lightning bothers me, but not the thunder that follows...simply because it's the lightning that can hurt ya, not the noise.

In any case, I'm going sequentially. Started with the further right menu, as that is more populated, but the other menu where the LotR section is, won't be long in getting to. So, I'm in a bit of a quandary here. While on the one hand, I have definite ideas of where/how things should be split, I am limited to three levels of categories at most. Which makes it a bit trickier. As we all know, the bookverse is VERY different from the movieverse. The movies didn't go into very many things, plus there was cutting out of certain characters, as well as substitution of some for others. What I'm getting at is that obviously the bookverse if much, much more extensive. Anyway, here's what I'm looking at now, considering that I've got those level limitations for now. Splitting the bookverse into ages, as certain elves, for example, (except in AU set stories) wouldn't BE past the First Age, as they would not have survived the fall of Beleriand. Some wouldn't even be mentioned much at all after the trees had been poisoned as they would've stayed behind in Aman. Naturally, to accomodate where some have lived through many ages, there should also be a multi-age category. But what this would mean, is that the ages would have to be top level categories, instead of below the top level category "Lord of the Rings Books". So, I'm thinking something like this: Bookverse: Pre-Trees/Trees Bookverse: First Age Bookverse: Second Age Bookverse: Third Age Bookverse: Fourth Age and later Bookverse: Multi Age Could drop the bookverse, as those of you who write for this fandom, are well aware of the different ages. There is a field for description, so I could just put "books" or something like that in the description. I dunno, still kicking this all around, as you can probably tell. In any case, could use some feedback, if any of you are willing, so I know what direction to go with this.

yup, it's why I ask for help

Indeed it does! I'll get to it after a nap tho. Thanks very much!
