  1. I'd agree that boys are a massive distraction. I was self home-schooled for high school but middle school with boys was at times extremely trying. They were loud, destructive jerks on average and Science save you if you gave them an inch. I remember one (during eight grade) who would steal an ink stamp from the teacher's desk whenever he saw that I was drawing - and just when he saw that I was done, he'd slam it down on the drawing and ruin it. He stopped that promtly after I not-so-gently prodded him with a sharp pencil. That was just an average event that happened daily, to give an example. On the other hand, I have a difficult time seeing a classroom full of girls. (I've never gone to a same-sex school, even though I've gone to private ones.) It seems to me that would carry its own problems, even if the grades go up. Girls can be vicious and at least some of that is released with typical girl vs boy rivalry. Honestly, I don't have much to say except offer up what I've experienced, but have they seriously tried to put a lot less boys in classes? My 7th grade classroom of 25sh students (in a private school) was like, 75% female and 25% boys. We were all very close and amiable with each other, far more than I've ever found in any other school.
  2. Starting up Dean Koontz's Ticktock. This month got away from me and so I have to return it to the library tomorrow. Must finish it before then. (if I can pull myself away from the forums, that is.)
  3. I have. My instructor was a super-safety freak. (Which is good, and yet.... so very irritating.) I have never eaten clam.
  4. I'm fairly sure you either read it (Into the Fire) on LJ on the creative journal I had before I left in protest, or on my old domain. Those are the only two places where I've posted it as a one-shot. (Unless, uhm, someone's reposting it without my knowledge... ) Wizards/Demons with humans make my day. (along with fae) I'm constantly saying "I want to write that!" and then realize I still have stories to finish. Tsk.

    I Am...

I am also noticing that. I am noticing Sephiroth in KH1 is a pain to beat up.

    Original Characters

I sigh in saying this, but the characters really just make themselves. Generally I start writing on a blank document without having any real idea of what I'm doing and suddenly I've written three thousand words and I have a character. In a way it's really just spacing out and letting the character develop. Some characters I spend two-three hours putting together so carefully I know entirely TMI about them to be healthy. Then I end up hating the characters and feeling that they're flat despite the attention I lavished upon their creation. Then I'll create one in five seconds and end up falling in love with it.
  7. What sort of stories do you wish there were more of? I don't mean 'well written' ones so much as what type of stories you like. What plot, what cliche, what character type, etc. What is the one clincher that would make you want to read the story just because it has that plot element? For example, I have a guilty pleasure in teenage / young adult 'Coven' type stories. Like the Craft, Secret Circle and the Covenant. I think the basic concept has a lot of potential and at the same time it's just a fun thing to play with. It's not always used wisely but I always want to see/read it. It's my weakness. I wrote a fantasy slash story a few months back about a knight and a dragon. A few of the reviews I received expressed glee at having found a slash story with dragons, and requests that I write more/something along the same vein. For those people I think I can safely say that dragons and slash together was the pull for them. Another type of story that I love to see is one based on the fae, the Seelie and Unseelie Court. Changelings and other such things. So what type of stories grab your attention, and wish there'd be more of? Ones with a main lead that is blind? Nefarious organizations gathering psychics under a guise of benign intent? An author's creation coming to life and puzzling their creator? Time traveling? Bring on the tried and true, the cliche, the silly, the strange. Hey, a good number of us are writers here, yeah? Maybe someone will be inspired to write something with your clincher.
  8. 'Entrisic' came to be for pretty much all the same reasons Madlodger listed. I wanted something genderless, fandom-less, timeless and unique. Something not impossible to spell (although people misspell it regardless). Originally I tried to go with 'Ixiel'. Then I Googled the name and saw there were a bunch of results for it. So I started randomly thinking up words and suddenly... Entrisic. Voila. I had myself a pen name.

    If I Were...

I'd be tired of my job. If I were a character in anime....

    I Am...

I am agreeing with NightScribe. (But then, who is?) I am finished with the book. I am mildly disappointed by it.

    I Am...

I am reading a horror book and wondering how horror authors sleep at night.
  12. I get that a lot. It doesn't taste like any separate ingredient, it's sort of sweet with a bit of sharpness. (At least with the mustard / or vinegar.) The color is also pretty so it looks attractive. - Honey and lemon on pancakes.
  13. I have. It's not particularly interesting. I have never sung in front of a crowd.
  14. Getting home after an awful trip.
  15. I am no longer allowed to expect it to rain when the weatherman says it will.
