  1. I noticed that my inventory is out for everybody to see. It must be a new thing since yesterday because I didn't see it before. I can go and see everyone's inventories whoever posted in any topics. Would it be possible to not have it showing or to be able to opt out?

  2. Yup, same as with Madlodger for me with the mystery box - except to add that it does generate a PM with the password as well as the error message.

I did get the PMs. I just didn't check them because of misleading fuchsia error message. Sorry if my post wasn't clear ;)

  3. I think I know what the problem is. When I used the large surprise box, it flashed the message that password has been sent, wait while we transfer you. The next thing that came up said this:

    Board Message

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

    The error returned was:

    That message does not exist

This is why I thought that the thing didn't work. As of now I have tested three boxes (2500 poins each) and got three identical results: password to the mystery forum. I already knew the password, so it was points waisted. Need to add some variety to the box when you'll get to it ;)

  4. I checked the bank account out and found my points in the bank. I had to pay 100 points to open a bank account, but it's not a big deal. One thing I noticed was that it doesn't tell how many % my money accumulate in the bank.

So, the points are there ;)

I still don't know why the large mystery box I bought didn't work.

  5. I tried it out and bought a large gift box and a magic marker. They appeared in my inventory with name, description and all. I used a gift box and it didn't let me. Now it's gone from my inventory. Do I get a refund? ;)

Oh, also, I can't see my bank account. I had a ton of points there, but now it's asking for 100 naughty points to open one. I didn't open a new one because my old points won't be there, most likely.

  6. Alright, I'm going to begin the modifications part of all this next. The GOOD thing about it, is that it can be done pretty much without turning the board off. If I HAVE to, it might be for a whole 10 minutes.

There will be SEVERAL modifications I'll be adding over the next several days. (Could try and do it in just a couple, but I DO have to sleep and work :D )

First of all, you'll see a new store, one that was written to work with version of the board. Also, will be adding an arcade and casino; as well as a few other things. Those are the major first few to add however.

At the same time, I will be working on new custom skins for the board itself. Those take awhile, so don't expect to see anything for possibly a month.

I saw Purchase Paid Subscriptions in my Control Panel. Is that a part of new add-ons and what are we going to be able to purchase?

  7. I am a journalism major. So there's only truth and facts and integrity as topics on my professors brains.

I am going to make a prediction that after graduating and getting a job in the field, the DEADLINES will be the most important things, not facts and integrity. There will be some time to do the research, but it will be limited and life will be hectic with juggling the job and family at the same time. I've read some professional articles which mentioned fanfiction which left impression that authors just "winged it" without any kind of deep understanding. It seems to be a hot topic these days. I am afraid that professors at school may be presenting a more Idealistic side of this stressful job to their young students than it really is.

  8. The name J.K. Rowling sounds faintly familiar...

I would not publish with religion promoting publishers of any kind. However, if a Harlequin type of publisher asked for it, I would make Hogwarts into a sex-slave training school, dress Harry and Draco into tight leather skirts and make Voldy into a pirate, obsessed with world domination :DDD

  9. MY OPINION, rayne, is that this looks like an assignment for homework. I can almost bet that you are a some sort of writing student. The poll supporting this thread mentions "real writers". There is nothing wrong with learning to write professionally and to pay your bills that way. Not all people have interest to make writing into a paid gig, though.

The beauty of fanfiction is that it is written purely out of passion and is an extension of human imagination. If I HAD to put out 10000 words weekly in order to feed my family and to have a roof over my head, then writing just wouldn't be fun anymore. As a fanfic writer (admittedly unprofessional and not very good) I can write WHATEVER I WANT, WHENEVER I FEEL LIKE. Pro-writing and fanfic-writing are two very different things.

I know that some people here are writing students and would like to know if fanfiction is even mentioned during lectures. Is it a part of curriculum in any way? Do professors talk about it? What is their overall attitude towards fanfiction?

  10. I find this poll mildly insulting to fanfic writers.

Are is it like the saying Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't write, make fan fiction.

    ^could be betaed.

It could be helpful to poll voters if you provided your definition of "real writers" and listed criteria to qualify as such.
