I killed a Funnel Web Spider out the back. It was either me or him.

They're okay. Unless they bite you, in which case you stop being okay.

passes flamethrower for future use
-
I have a feeling we'll be having this discussion for a very long time. Spiders are NOT okay... ever. No shape, size or form... well, except dead form. Then they're okay.
-
I love my mum to bits, but CHRIST she can be frustrating sometimes! If being stubborn was an Olympic sport, she'd be a guaranteed gold medal winner.
-
I recently wrote a story about someone hacking into a hospital to remotely kill someone, and now tonight I see an episode of CSI: Cyber that covers the same idea! People will think I nicked the idea now. lol

Stephen King had something similar happen, and he ended up withdrawing a book over it. I forget which one now.
-
Ah, my mistake. I thought you meant it had happened somewhere. I'm blaming elves for putting me off.
-
Well the thing is, I uploaded my story before the episode appeared here, but I don't know how far behind America we are with the episodes.

I today impressed my young female hairdresser with my knowledge of testicles. I live to educate.

LMAO. Well, with a kitten, you look for what looks like punctuation marks at the testes aren't descended yet.
-
I also told her to have a poke around down there. She's bound to find something.
-
hehe yeah, like cat claws and fangs for the invasion!

I'm glad I got my 'embrangled' story prompt done in time. I had nothing until the idea suddenly struck.

Nice to have you playing with us!
My personal goal is to meet every one of these increasingly odd prompts.
-
That's pretty hardcore, BW! Good luck.
-
Hey, sanity is vastly overrated...
-
I’m considering starting a new monthly word prompt, for those who’d like to have more than a week to write something. But I’m wondering if people would prefer something other than a one word prompt, or whether that would be enough? Or maybe people don’t see the need for it? Ideas PM’d to me appreciated if you have any.

Phrases are particularly good.
Or for an even harder challenge like a phrase and a word.
But that would depend on how you play it
-
Getting good ideas. Keep them coming! It seems there is a need for a monthly version, so it'll be implemented likely at the start of August. I still need to work out the details, so I appreciate the ideas.
-
From what I've seen on ff.net (yeah, not the best place, I know) they have word prompts, phrase prompts and sometimes song prompts. (for example my most recent one is a Taylor Swift song with a couple of word prompts)
it really does all vary, which is what you could do in a way, have one month having a word, a second month with a phrase and a third month with a song or something like that. Obviously it is just ideas and what I've seen when looking around when writers block...

If anybody here lives in England, could you tell me if dark chocolate is known as plain chocolate there? An English recipe mentions both plain and milk choclate, which are the same thing here.

If anybody thinks I'm going to be doing any writing whatsoever when Skyrim has recently been released is insane.

You betcha!
-
yup! My kids and hubby got me Skyrim! woot!
-
I'm waiting for the expected GOTY edition with included dlc etc Maybe go re-play Morrowind or Oblivion in the meantime.

If you ever find yourself needing some inspiration to keep writing a story that you're paused on, this site might help: http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2010/11/22/the-writers-prayer-the-penmonkey-paean/

Finally a prayer I can get behind! Read and memorized.
-
That was so hilarious I had to print it!!
-
lol I thought some people would appreciate it.
-
It was nice seeing those Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo's close up in our front yard... until the cat scared them away. Damn cat.

It wasn't enough that the upright freezer and washing machine needed replacing this year, now the fucking fridge has shit itself! *sigh*

I sure hope so. It's a pain in the arse, not to mention the wallet.
-
Oh, do tell! I'm babying my aging kitchen appliances myself.
-
I am too. I agree with Bronx, rule of three needs to apply.
-
It's 2011 now. Very futuristic sounding. But I'm STILL waiting for my personal jet pack and hover car! And where the hell is my shiny silver jump suit? Are you telling me all those 50's sci fi movies were wrong?
- Show previous comments 1 more

Depends on how you look at it, as the invasion and monster ones didn't happen either. I can really live without the Twilight Zone aliens in "To Serve Man," too. I don't want drunk partiers literally crashing into a tree or my bedroom. Hover cars would help with snow and flooding though, those I want more than the jet pack!
-
You know, 2011 got to you before the states. So you were talking to most of us from the future. ^^
-
yup, leave it to Melrick to be the future guy!
-
Just a reminder for people that the new Monthly Prompts is now open! Look for the Challenges/Requests forum, and click on the "Dribs, Drabs and Doggy Tales!" subforum.

I love the challenge of trying to get them all in at once.

posted this to fb too

Okay.

Just when you think Christmas can't get any worse, it gets worse. *sigh* Sometimes I really hate Christmas.

*hugs* What Bronx said...

I just want it all to end, for everything to just go away so I'm finally at peace for once in my life. I'm so tired.

Looks like mum's getting a pace maker.

The pace maker has been installed and it looks like she'll be coming home tomorrow. They didn't even need to knock her out to put it in. The things they can do these days.
-
That's wonderful news!
-
That's fantastic!
-
Mum's pace maker is in and she's now back home. Here's hoping she can now have some kind of quality of life again.

Fingers crossed. It won't stop me from worrying for a good long while though.
-
Of course it won't stop the worry, but at least it's no longer a mystery illness. Knowing what's wrong means it can be treated.
-
And it will give mum a chance to regain her strength and enjoy life again.
-
My days of being able to go on holiday are behind me now. I can't leave an elderly, increasingly fragile mum home alone anymore. She has to come first.

Here's hoping that won't be for a good while yet.
-
Your mom is lucky to have you Melrick. You're a good son!
-
Well... I'm not very good with compliments so I'll just poke my tongue out instead. :-P

My new computer is amazingly quick and surprisingly quiet. Now I just have to get used to Windows 7.

::nods:: I avoided it as well and went from XP to Win7.
-
I had the misfortune to experience it on hubby's laptop. I crashed the OS in less than 2 minutes. LOL
-
lol I consider myself among the fortunates that weren't exposed to the mess that was Vista.
-
My time online will be greatly reduced until early May, which means no reading of stories for me until then. I'll add new monthly prompts though for next month (unless I completely forget).
-
Nearly 3 months since dad died and I guess I'm not going to stop reliving that horrible Friday in hospital. That's disappointing, since it makes sleep difficult.

Your very welcome, and I wish you the best of luck with whatever you do in life.

Thanks. :-)

You very welcome.
