  1. You guys ever find yourselves shipping a pairing you know you shouldn’t?  Like maybe the relationship isn’t exactly healthy, or one of the characters is a hero and the other is the villain, or something like that, but you still kind of like seeing them together?

The Adoring Fan was especially famous for people leading him to the highest sheer cliff reachable in game, and then causing him to have the kind of accident referred to as “natural causes” for Russian doctors. And then three days later he’d rise again completely unaware like some kind of mentally challenged Jesus.

I’m sure if you did know the fandom you’d be as appalled as anyone at some big muscular orc warrior woman getting into various sexual situations with a scrawny little wood elf fuck.

I’m guilty of this with in Oblivion. TAF scared the hell out of me after he died and he came back. Paralyzed him so he fell to his death wasn’t permanent. At least until I learned how to delete him like a vengeful god.

I haven’t seen the show, but I’m sure you’d do a good job of writing a romance with an utterly evil character.

Jaydee start with the abridged first.

That’s the weird part about Esdeath (the villain; name’s a Japanese pun): she’s a little more complex than you’d expect.  Based on her intro scene, you’d kind of figure her soldiers follow her out of fear, she kills minions who fail her, that sort of stuff...except that’s not how this woman rolls.

Her soldiers are fiercely loyal, not because they fear her, but because they respect her.  She eats her meals with the common troops, ensures that any financial reward she gets is distributed among her soldiers and comforts her subordinates when they’re upset.  No, seriously, at one point one of her minions is really broken up over another one dying, and Esdeath sits there and holds her while she cries.  Another time, a different subordinate is worried about taking his mask off in front of the others because of something about his face (we never see it), and Esdeath tells him he has nothing to worry about and to take the mask off and eat dinner with his teammates.  He does, and nobody says a thing.  It’s...actually kinda sweet.  Her feelings for Tatsumi (the hero) are also apparently genuine, even if she doesn’t really know how to express them.

This is the same woman who did the scary-badass villain intro with bodies on spikes.  It’s actually kind of what drew me to the character, the multiple dimensions to her.  Villainy is her job, and it’s a job she clearly loves (she was asked to make an example of those Northerners, and she got creative), but when she’s not “working”, she can be a legitimately pleasant person to be around.

And damn it all, JayDee, you gave me an idea for a potential semi-romantic smut fic!  See, there’s an episode where Esdeath and Tatsumi get stranded on a tropical island, and I could...uh...work with that.
