Nooo, it’s good! If anyone gets mad at you say the other one did it.
(sometimes I wish I didn’t have a unique birth name – google me and there I am)

Oh man, if only Siri would do that. However, I did have someone walk in while I was listening without headphones. Cheap thrills, to be sure.

As long as she’s reading them because you asked her to. I’m assuming you weren’t just driving to work one day and she piped up with, “While you are in transit, here is some pornography I believe you would enjoy.”

If you read robot porn, she’d nail the voices.

Haaaaa…. I know that feel. I was the de-facto manager for almost two years before my boss was willing to provide the title officially…. because as long as they don’t give you the title, you don’t command the pay. Your job sounds like it is full of a-holes, too. Screw them.

Maybe it’s a good sign to start asking for a promotion? (and a raise)

I happen to work in a mall. It has been earlier and earlier. (also Christmas music has been playing since the day before Halloween) Black Friday generally is seen as doomsday. No one is happy that day.
I’ll be getting off after midnight.

On memorial day, the local Taco Bell was staffed with three people at lunch hour. One was taking orders at the counter, one was taking orders at the drive-thru, and one was prepping the food. They were apologetic to the customers. With one person making food and new people showing up every 5 minutes, they were very overwhelmed. Just close the fucking restaurant if that his how it is going to be. I hate American culture where everything is supposed to be available at all times, which requires some form of abuse that we refuse to acknowledge (still haven’t fully accepted the abolishment of slavery after 150 years, I guess). Anyway, you’d think with all the technology and “wealth” this country has access to, we’d figure out ways to not screw each other over, but instead those things are used to screw each other over under more obscure, institutionalized pretexts about rights and privileges.

This is spooky as fuck, but my exact thought before clicking was “Well, that sucks...”
I can only re-iterate it really. I remember a good few years ago now reading a long sad story from somone who’d been in retail for years, finding their Black Friday start times getting earlier and earlier until they were having to come in Thanksgiving and now it’s pretty much become the norm hasn’t it? What a shit show, people can wait 24 hours for that “AMAZING DEAL! TWO ITEMS YOU ACTUALLY WANT DISCOUNTED PLUS A WHOLE WAREHOUSE OF OTHERWISE UNSHIFTABLE CRAP AT A DISCOUNT!”

I was never fond of shopping on Black Friday to begin with, since it’s such a frenetic rush and full of people who try very hard not to live up to that label of homo sapiens. When stores started opening on Thanksgiving Day, I decided I was boycotting stores all through the holiday weekend. It’s refreshingly serene, actually.

This is because I got up early and grabbed the communal brain cell first. You can have it back now—I need to go to a trade show, and one doesn’t need cognitive skills for that. Just caffeine, and an ability to grab the good bling.

To be fair, 10 years is probably a reasonable time to take to get over being exposed to one of my less socially acceptable stories.

Anne Rice has no room to complain. When you start earning royalties on the fanfiction then you’ve made it.
That is a high compliment to have a good writer adapt your work! Funny how it took 10 years to see it, though. Mysterious.

Awesome! I think having someone want to write something based on your work is the best sort of review there is.

I can attest to things being a bit slower around AFF, but we tend to see ebbs and flows. We’ll see a lot more activity over the holidays, when people have more time off and find themselves inspired.

I don’t have any streaming services, so tend to wait for cheap second hand DVDs for anything that hasn’t been on normal TV in my country. I will definitely try and see it tho’
