    From what I’ve heard about Amazon, Walmart’s a paradise by comparison.  It’s in Amazon’s risk analysis (SEC Filings) that they’ve been burning through so many people that there’s a strong risk of not being able to staff their warehouses.  Amazon’s a firm that will threaten firing people trying to take shelter during a tornado, people get injured or worse and the firm doesn’t care, at all.  They’ll tell drivers to obey all traffic laws, but dock you for “slowness” that you’re forced to run every stop sign & red light (even that’s not 100% sure).   A prison convict would have more rights than as an amazon employee/subcontractor (which is how amazon shields itself from liability).  But hey, you do you, good luck.

    Not sure I’d recommend amazon as an employer, unless you’ve got a secret fetish of having to pee into water bottles in lieu of proper rest breaks.

    I’d have to agree with @Desiderius Price here. Amazon is, by and large, brutal to work for, and the hours you have are not that different from the hours you want at Walmart. Why throw away a secure job for one that has a performance algorithm only a robot can meet?
    Honestly, if you wanted more than an hour earlier start and finish, I’d say look for something else (but not Amazon). If it’s just one hour later start and finish, it’s not worth starting over somewhere else.

    Not to mention cough, rough, dough, and bough.
    Also, I’m glad they called it a vowel shift and not a vowel movement.

    “Bomb” typically pronounces itself “boom,” so there is that.

    Well, it gets more fascinating if you actually delve into it.  English itself was undergoing a “great vowel shift” where the pronunciations were shifting at the same time the spellings were being standardized, which is why there’s numerous examples of the pronunciation oddities.
    For instance, add “comb” into your example.  Or use Laughter & Daughter.

    @Wilde_Guess
    I don't plan on going on to LPN or RN. I'm just going for PCT so my mum isn't on my ass about having a career that pays well. I plan on moving out of state far away from my current residence as soon as I'm done with phlebotomy this semester and EKG next semester so that I have the PCT completed to make things smoother when parting ways with her. I do want to maintain a decent if not good relationship with her. I just have to get a job near my intended location to move to once I've got PCT so that I have a steady income while finishing my books(at least one of them) and other plans I have.
    @Desiderius Price
    You didn't get that from my last comment? XD Thanks, Des. It really did. Haha~

    Congratulations!  Hopefully, your first day went well.  Almost everyone I’ve met who has gone into nursing “working their own way” has started out as a CNA.  The “trick” is to keep up your studies to work up to LPN, RN, and so on without burning out.  The clinical experience you gain will help you become a better nurse as time goes on.

    It is awesome! I had an amazing first day. Everyone there is super nice and I love helping out the residents with little things.

    That’s awesome! I think… I dunno what a CNA is. A nurse of some sort? Whenever there’s an n in the acronym, nurse is my first guess. Probably because I come from a long line of nurses. Either way, new jobs are exciting! I hope your first shift went swimmingly!

    I’ve pretty much switched to paperless notifications, so most of my information reaches me by Jan 31. My state requires e-filing, so that’s as free as the Feds.

    I’m constrained every year as the critical forms aren’t ready until mid-February.  So, once they were done, I filed ASAP.   I’ll be dropping the state taxes into the mail this morning (because the software wants $19.99 to e-file the state, I can hit print and use a stamp).
