Hey guys! So I finally had a few moments to breathe at school here so I figured I’d give you all an update and Reality Check. Actually, the Reality Check is going to be extra simple...there isn’t one. Yeah, like I said before, this section is purely of my own creation. Some emotional similarities and reactions don’t count. If the event didn’t actually happen, it doesn’t go into the Reality Check. Well, that was easy Chapter 60 is actually fairly close to being done. I’m in the last section of it and I’m hoping to have a straight shot to the end. This will be the last chapter in the Travel Saga, by the way, so there’s gonna be a new one starting up soon. Hope you’re all doing well and the next time you hear from me should be with an exact date

A very Happy Thanksgiving to you all I know there are many things in my life that I am thankful for but one of the biggest is having a fan-base that has been so loyal and supportive over the last two years. A fanbase that never fails to encourage me to keep working, even when I’m struggling. A fan-base that was so patient that they were able to wait TWO MONTHS for an update when I’ve been pretty steady in my work output. It means the world to me, guys, and I’m thankful each and every day that you all stick with me. Hope you have a great day and look for my Reality Check and update within the next day

Chapter 59 is up and posted! Whew! Good to be back writing and hopefully things will go smoother from here And I’ll try to post a ‘best stories from boot camp’ thing in the next day or so (can’t reveal too much, obviously). Right now, I just need to relax a little, then dive headlong into Chapter 60 Hope you enjoy reading!

A bit more than halfway done! Sorry it's been taking a while but getting adjusted to school and getting my writing muscles flexed again hasn’t been the easiest. Rest assured, though...Chapter 59 is coming

I’ve got quite a few qualifications I have to get at the start of my school but rest assured that I am working on the chapter as well. Gotten a good bit in and the old writing muscles have started flexing again so hopefully it will go smoothly

Laptop is purchased, Office is installed, and I have started working on the newest chapter Here’s hoping all those ideas I had at boot camp help make the writing go quickly.

Just got to my school and I shall be purchasing a computer tomorrow. Details of boot camp to follow.

Hey guys. I'm out so much to tell and not enough time to tell it all. Just know that I will be buying a laptop as soon as I get to my school and I have two months worth of stories to write so I will get right on that. I missed you guys a lot.

Hey everyone. I ship out in the morning so I figured I’d take this opportunity to say my goodbye right now. Well...goodbye isn’t the right word for it. This isn’t me leaving permanently, of course. It’s just a couple of months that I’m gonna be off the grid before I come back with a vengeance...sort of. Trust me, I’ve got so much of the story in my head right now that, hopefully, when I have access to a computer again, it’ll all just flow out like crazy. Sorry to leave you on a cliffhanger, but I figured it was as good a place as any to pause the story and get the excitement going for what happens next Look for me to come back around mid-November, just so you don’t have to keep checking back here every couple of days. In all seriousness, I just want to say that you are all the best fans any writer could ever hope to have. When I started this story over two years ago, I never thought it would get the fanbase or support that it has. It was just a story that I wanted to tell. And now it’s evolved into so much more than that and I’m truly humbled by the support its gotten and the theories it’s spawned. Seriously, when you have your readers guessing what is going to happen next or creating their own outlandish versions of what they want to happen next, it’s the best compliment a writer can get. It shows the readers care about the story. They like it enough to want to add their own voice to it and believe me, I read and consider everything everyone has ever suggested. Including Walrus Tara. I hope all of you have a fantastic couple of months. I’ve talked to Bashful Scribe and hopefully he can start chugging out the chapters as quickly (kind of) as I do. He’s starting uni again so I know his time will be limited but hopefully he will be able to fill in the void while I’m gone. He’s the better writer anyway so definitely give him all the support you can. He deserves it. And here’s where I will sign off. Just know that you’re all amazing fans and I love you all and I’m going to do my absolute best in boot camp to be worthy of all the love and support you’ve shown me over the past two years. I couldn’t have done it without you all. You make me proud to be a writer. Until we meet again, guys. Love, Joe

Hey everyone! Time for the Reality Check for Chapter 57 …………………………… Actually, nothing. Yeah, I know it’s weird, but this entire chapter was constructed straight from the brain. Sure, it’s based a little on experiences I’ve had at conventions, but other than that I basically just took a swing for the purely fictitious with this one. Closing in on the end of Chapter 58, which will be the last one I post before I go to boot camp. Back to work on it!

Chapter 57 is finally posted sorry about the late posting time but it was my last day of work and they decided to hold me over as a final act of vengeance. Oh well. Time for a good night's rest and then on to Chapter 58, which I REALLY want done before I leave. Hope you all enjoy the chapter

Hey guys! I know I'm a little late getting to the Reality Check but better late than never, right? - I don't have two siblings like Jack does. I have one brother, but on more than one occasion, he's completely shut himself off from the family to bury himself in his social life via his phone. Trying to drag him away from it was an unbelievable chore. - Jack's conversation with Joe mirrored a few I had with friends before my first year of college. I feel bad that I was nowhere near as compassionate as Jack was (I was ready to get to college, come Hell or high water) but it was a real surreal feeling to realize how I was living my life would be changed. - Jack's feelings about Arthur and his place in Tara's life are basically my own with my cousin's most recent relationship. We do not live close together so I don't have quite as strong a feeling of 'jealousy' as he does, but it does hurt a little knowing that we don't talk as much as we do, mainly because she's got another guy in her life. Though I did give him 'the talk'. Chapter 57 is progressing well and, at this rate, I should have it done in the next few days. And while I'm enjoying writing this one, I really, really, REALLY want to get the next chapter out before I leave. I have my last day of work coming up in a couple days so I should have all the time I need to sit down and write it. You'll understand why once it comes out. Hope you all are doing well and I'll see you soon

I am planning on applying for OCS while in A School after boot camp. Unless you are in ROTC in college, it's difficult to hop directly into OCS.

Hey guys! Sorry this took a little bit but time for the Reality Check - My family and I actually never got a personalized tour of Iowa State. That actually happened at my second college (I went two years to one, two years to the other). However, my parents were so familiar with Iowa State that they were able to provide just as good of a tour on the multiple occassions we went there. Actually...holy crap, I just realized that that was pretty much all I needed to say. Little bits here and there in the tour were made up or spun up a bit to fit the story, but otherwise that was all the truth. And since that was the main thrust of the chapter...there you go. I do realize that this last chapter was a bit single-minded in terms of its goal. I completely understand if there was a little bit of impatience with it, especially since not much actually happened. Part of me wants to say that it probably works better once taken in context with the chapters that follow but I think that's a bit unfair. It should work on its own and if you don't think it did, I apologize. This is something that BashfulScribe and I have talked about a lot in terms of our story structure. He prefers the episodic vignettes while I look more at the story overall. Both are valid and if one suits your taste more than the other, I completely understand. That said, I really enjoyed writing this last chapter. It got me nostalgic for my old college, especially since my wife and I took a tour of it back in December. So many memories...It honestly makes me wish I could go back and relive all of it, even knowing it wouldn't be for very long. I think everyone wishes that at some point in their life for some other point in their life. Unfortunately, we don't have time machines yet. Actually, that's not true. We do have time machines. Those that take us back: our memories. Those that take us forward: our dreams. And on that philosophical what's-it, I shall leave you for now. Work is progressing well on the next chapter and I hope to have it up soon
