Happy birthday! Hope the coming year is less hectic than the last one.

We had almost 200 trick-or-treaters. I attribute this to (a) Halloween falling on a Saturday, (b) excellent weather, and (c) lots of my neighbors devising clever ways to hand out candy safely. (For my part, I built a cardboard candy-slide and dispensed the treats from my porch.)
 

I’d meant to pick up some tongs, but instead handed stuff out with a ladle as I froze my butt off outside. (Though in fairness, the ladle was also good for smacking hands when people tried to reach into the bowl.) Though most kids on the side street stop before they get to our buildings… for various reasons.
Anyway, if 2021 continues like 2020 then next year the kids will be in camouflaged hazmat suits and combat gear when they come to your door demanding water, canned goods, and all the toilet paper they used on your house in years past.

I got 15 people this year. there was a kid dressed up as the ‘stay puft’ from ghostbusters! i froze my butt of but it was worth it

We didn’t get a single trick or treater here. Our local infection rate is around World War Z levels tho so...

I just got released from hospital today after 5.5 long grueling days. The bad news is I’m not fully recovered. I still have a bit of pneumonia in my lungs and am a little run down. The good news is that my doctors felt confidant to take me all the way off O2. Meaning that as long as I’m taking it easy my O2 lung saturation is sufficient to keep me going! Now I just need to rest and recover a bit more, build my strength back up and everything should work out. I do feel better, so that is good. (Much better than I felt going into hospital), I’m hoping now with  couple more weeks to recover I can get back to relative normality in my life… I’ll continue to keep you guys posted but I want to thank everyone here again who was pulling for me while I’ve been sick. It really does mean the world to me!

Sorry about that, Mal. When you described your symptoms, I kind of figured. Hope you continue to be on the mend.
