Happy New Year to everyone! Let’s hope 2022 brings us all some much needed joy.
We’ve all had a lot on our plates with the pandemic, wildfires, floods, workplace upheavals, and just about everything you can imagine going on. But as a community of readers and writers, we can always fall back on the worlds we love to bring us some much-needed comfort. So find a good story to read, or write something that’s been tickling the back of your brain, and let’s see if we can find a bit of joy and peace in words.

Just in time for the holiday season, we're seeing an influx of spambots, on our Forum and in the Archive's review pages. Here's what you can do.
If you see a spambot post in the Forums, click the little link at the top right corner of the post that reads "Report Post." The moderators will make it go away as quickly as possible. If there are multiple posts, report them all. You can leave a one-word report if you'd like, such as "Spam" or "Spambot" but it's not necessary. When we read the report, we'll know right away what the issue is.
If you see a spambot review in the Archive, and you're the story's author, you can always delete it. If you're not the author, you can report the review using the "Report Review" link in the lower left corner of the review. It does help immensely, since these reports are delivered via email, to drop in that one-word report, but even if you don't, it's pretty easy to see those spambot reviews when the review board is accessed.
What shouldn't you do? Don't click any links. Who knows where most of those links have been? For all we know, they could have taken a quick trip through the malware pool before landing on your screen. Practice safe surfing and don't click anything, especially when the post is in Cyrillic, or German, or some funky font of dubious provenance. We like our members and want you all to stay safe!

I’d really like everyone to think a little before posting a request like this. You’re asking for the name of the doujinshi that caused PornEater to pull his stories. That’s utterly baffling to me, both as a moderator and as a writer. Why would you support the work of a plagiarist—a thief, to put it plainly?
So, here’s the moderator portion of this post: ANY POST WITH THE NAME OF, OR A LINK TO THAT DOUJINSHI WILL BE DELETED.

One of our members, and a personal friend of mine, passed away this morning after a long illness.
Anesor is one of the people who encouraged me to write, and while the first thing I ever posted isn’t up any longer, she never hesitated to offer support, advice, and friendship while I tried my best to hone my craft. We wrote together, beta-read for each other, and even indulged ourselves in some private commentary on some of the more florid fan fictions in our favorite fandoms.
I got the chance to visit her in-person once, and I’ll always cherish that day. It was like sitting down with a family member, because we knew each other so well by then. Her family was warm and welcomed this online stranger with open arms, just like Anesor did when she wrote the first review on my story, and asked me what happens next.
I will miss her voice, and her strength, and her sheer determination, but I will always hold our friendship close.

Also, since this is an original work of fiction and is therefore the sole property of the original author, any further requests or offers of copies could possibly result in further actions taken by the staff.

Let me start by saying that AFF is NOT for sale. I am, however, extravagantly interested in what gave you the notion that we were open to such a thing. I don’t recall any mention anywhere of the site being offered for sale, and I’m fairly sure I would have noticed any signs on the virtual front lawn.
If you are serious about starting a fiction archive, however, that’s a separate discussion.

I took a look at both profiles, and it looks like they belong to the same person based on information in our records. Given that we only allow one account per member, what I’m going to do is remove the Kirara_Grey account as a duplicate account.
I do want to thank you for catching this one. We haven’t finished clean-up in either Inuyasha or Originals, and the older stories are rife with this sort of thing. But we really, really dislike plagiarists here on AFF, so we always are grateful to alert readers! Thank you! 

We do not allow, and never will allow solicitations to download hard copies of stories pulled by authors, nor will we allow offers to distribute hard copies of stories pulled by authors. We respect both the author’s ownership of their intellectual property, and their decision for removing a story.  At the very top of this and every other Search request category, we clearly state the following:
“If you know the piece of fiction that someone is searching for is removed from the site, but you retained a personal copy, please do not pass the story around. If the story is taken down either by the Author or Moderator staff there is a reason behind it that must be respected.”
Those are not idle words. Any further requests for copies will be deleted, and could result in account deletion for registered users.

Why do you keep bringing this up, then? No one on this site is getting paid for anything. Not even us staff are getting paid. We’re volunteers. Both the sites are free to use. It is illegal to profit from fan fiction writing, and we don’t allow commissioned stories in Originals either. So, stop bringing it up.

I’ve been a moderator here for nearly ten years now, and I honestly think this thread has done more damage to my brain cells than anything I’ve encountered to date in the entire archive.
For anyone reading along, we are not paying anything for fiction on this archive, and no one is allowed to solicit payment for anything on this archive. If anyone asks for money, or wants you to contribute to their Patreon, or any other self-funding website, please report it.
