If anyone knows a stopgap for squirrels in the attic that works... I'm going insane
-
Have you tried using a fake predator? They sell them at gardening shops as "bird and possum dissuading statues". They're basically just plastic owls, falcons and kestrels that have been painted realistically with large reflective eyes. We put them in our roof to keep starlings or bats from roosting there.

Thanks. I may have to see the animal control idea or spray. There's no one to put things on the roof. Maybe I'll make that my bday prezzie...

Irony is mourning a fictional father you're writing...
-
If you mourn for the father it sounds like the fictional dad must be a great guy.

I hope it gets my readers the same, but they are a silent lot about the drama. thanks
-
LOL, I know all about the silent readers. I have several of them who only comment when I have writer's block. I catch hell until I post new chapters for them to enjoy. ROFL.

My muse had a mean idea today...

Grounding a tale in reality is a fifty fifty make or break for readers. So, depending upon the type of situation that evolves, go with it, or write it out and if it ids too morbid, therefore messing with the overall feel of the storyline, toss it is my advice. If it throws everything out of whack, then it won't work no matter how real it feels.
-
It won't throw anything out of whack. And it really shoudl be a consequence of character choices. I just feel like i'm taking soemthgin away from a character who's had a hard life... but my muse is even telling me hOW i should do it... seductive bugger.
-
Well, if it will evolve the character in the correct direction, do it by all means. After all sometimes the hard knocks types are the most successful once they get a gut full of fed up energy packed down for a while.

Dam, I didn't want another plot bunny! I need thought input!

Geeze, I forgot how many subplots were advancing so fast in this story...

Good luck with getting it completed. I got in the habit of revising as I go because I drive me nuts if I am revise only. I still miss a few things, but I have less to revise during round 2. Cuts about a week's work from my revision schedules.

Oh, I did revisions and beta as I went when I posted the monster. But now I'm putting the story to bed, cleaning up and reformatting it. I've improved a bit and have to fix some things, like a slight addiction to helping verbs. I've also cleaned up descriptions just a tad. Story is long done.
This cleanup edit is taking about a month of 8hr/day so I think I've done like one flash fic this month.

Gotcha. I leave things alone for at least a year before I do the final edit. Those do take a lot of focus. Hope you do not suffer the same OCD to the point of almost killing the story difficulty I find myself fighting when I do a final draft revision. Good luck in getting it put to bed.
