LOL, I hear you. I actually make truffles and bon bons among other things as gifts each year plus a beaded xmas ornament for each person on my list every year. The custom color schemed antique bead work patterns each year get done throughout the year, but the candy making has to be done over no more than three- 14 hour per day sets so none of it can go bad before getting passed out and eaten. This year I am not making all the mini cheesecakes because I found a really delicious looking new can...

Sorry to hear that happened last night. I'm fortunate that I rarely have to worry about arguments due to making all of our gifts through the year. I make ornaments of all kinds for my friends and family over the year's course. The candy is the second half of the gifts we give.

Steam punk is now a genre? It is expanding beyond fashion in all directions, isn't it?

steampunk is victorian era set SF and have been in science fiction subfield since the late 80s. The Wild Wild West remake movie with Will Smith and Kevin Kline was in that style. The original comic book for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was a SF/Fantasy steampunk remix of classic literary characters, though Well's Time Machine and Verne's Nautilis were source examples of the mix. (steampunk was a reaction to cyberpunk of the 80s)

(cont) the fashions came from SF conventions and books, like the excellent Parasol Protectorate

The queen's court is not just maneuvering between her nobility, but also gamesmanship of ambassadors from other lands.
  7. Well, now I didn't expect that to happen in today's NaNo section.... muses are funny.

  8. 31k and some change. Gonna need about 70k for 1st draft :o

  9. pittwitch's lovely review said for Griffin's Walk ch 10: Thanks! Recent words have been trickier, haven't they? (I'm just glad I've been able to cram in some other writing with my ambitious NaNo goal....)
  10. New person totally messed up Saturday and partly Friday.

  11. BronxWench's review of Griffin's Walk: Alistair's a nice guy, even hardened he's not going to change his basic nature to be a player. I'm glad I've gotten venom for how Anora acts, means that I think I've gotten her just about right. Thanks, I was worried about finding justification for the ship. I'm hoping the 'R' words will be cooperative with this story... Thanks for the review!

Wordcount doesn't have to be good, feel free to babble, sometimes my muse babbles about the next book in the series. Add chocolate, everything's better with chocolate, isn't it: chocolate dreams, chocolate hawaii, chocolate anticipation.

I probably should resist chocolate wheaties.

Dialogue. Dialogue eats up word count. Then I get to up the body count. eliminate extraneous characters, and let the survivors talk about it. While having sex. Yes... ::rubs hands together and reaches for the keyboard::

The queen did not appreciate being blindsided by Trinna's ploy and makes this very clear at Landsmeet opening. Enter another complication: a Tevinter Magister masquerading as an ambassador.

  16. Sorry, this is a little confusing, but Griffin's Walk is a longer story about the Warden and Alistair. Griffin's Walk: Inconvenience is the prequel, but they are the same leads. BronxWench's review of GW:Inconvenience Yep, locked room/inn mystery, and no tradition of Agatha Christie or Ellery Queen. It's a different mindset that today's forensics and evidence paradigym. Thanks for the review! BronxWench's review of Griffin's Walk It would be so much easier if they weren't attached, wouldn't it? A good general shouldn't let sentiment lead, and that's what Trinna was raised to. Thanks for the review!!
  17. Pittwitch said for Chapter 3 Griffin's Walk: Inconvenience: You know it's a little fun to try for a fair mystery in a world without forensics and with magic... Thanks for the review!

  24. Review for Griffin's Walk: Interruptions Chapter 1 review from BronxWench: LOL, no this won't have a lot of politics. It is a locked inn mystery. Just be glad I decided not to model something on And Then There Were None... Thanks! Chapter 2 review from BronxWench: Thanks, with the twin reasons for PTSD there of Blight and civil war, people would be wary for a long time. sometimes it's the small battles, not the Teyrns or Archdemons. (ie no extra clues for you! here) Thanks for the reviews!
  25. Has anyone else looked at a book blurb and wondered by the lead doesn't have whiplash with that much tragic relocations in a short time?
