We can do a themed RP, absolutely!  Let’s brainstorm a few ideas!

I still owe our orgymaster, the ever-delightful foeofthelance, a post, but my co-conspirator seems to have vanished. If anyone sees Kelk, poke him for me?

That’s good advice. I might push the limits a little, when emotions run high and ugly situations bring out ugly in people. But this character’s racism will be coming from an obvious place of fear and ignorance. If it shows up at all. These little fuckers have been crafty at evading my attempts to throw in conflict so far, but I’ll get em! *shakes fist*
    Thanks guys!

Keep it within what is seen as socially expected. Even in a very cosmopolitan city like NY, there are underlying currents I overhear all the time. “I go to the Jewish baker for my bread because those people make wonderful bread.” “I sort of miss the old hot dog carts. They were better than all these halal (wildly mispronounced) carts.” “She’s very pretty for someone with mixed heritage.”
It might never be acceptable, but we’re never quite surprised to encounter it, either. I think that’s the line….

I’m with B Dubz on this one ^ And actually, as a WOC myself, I find it hard to hate racist characters. I usually just feel sorry for them  Now, unless he’s literally committing hate crimes, I think you can toe the line if the racism is stemming from an aspect of his character, like his upbringing or maybe deep-seated insecurities. People are never going to like his racism, but they be able to sympathize and/or root for him to get better. Unless it’s very casual racism, which I think can slide for the sake of the story.

I never even thought about that problem with foundation! I don’t wear foundation often, but I’ll have to keep it in mind when I do, thanks. Maybe it’ll be okay with just tinted moisturizer?

I with Arian on this. I wear glasses, but contacts when I wear make up or go out somewhere. And I can’t be bothered with cleaning them either. I like the daily disposable ones and have done for years and years, since they first came out. So much easier! Oh, the base curve on the Cooper Vision ones is just perfect! I love those

I'm back and forth between my glasses and contacts. I'm less likely to bother with make-up when wearing my glasses, though, because the part connecting the lenses rubs off the foundation that's on the bridge of my nose no matter how good the stuff is, with or without primer. I look good either way.

Hmm… I tend to believe I’m an animal, then after that I’m human, then a thinker, then I’m a writer, then a girl. People who make judgements about me based on the last of those things are missing out on all the best stuff. And the same applies to everyone else. The interesting stuff comes before gender. Look there.

Just realised, that sounds a lot worse than it is…. I just meant I was interested, and that’s a Big Thing for me, because I’m usually not interested in anyone like that. At all. Ever. I’m not saying it’s difficult to get my attention, but I’m usually fairly oblivious most of the time, sometimes even on purpose. I’ve just, more or less, decided that crap is a big waste of my time. On balance. This hasn’t served to change my opinion any, really.
I mean I would have done the whole bodily contact thing, quite happily, had we got to that point. Unfortunately, he turned out to be a massive dick. *sighs* And that always kind of puts you off their dick... It’s a sad truth most men have yet to work out. *shrugs sadly* Not my fault, I’m afraid.
Meh… I’m feeling better now, mostly. Just settling back in.

I wore contacts for years, but I can’t be arsed now. I rock the glasses, and I’ll confess, the best thing I ever did was find a two pair for one deal, so I could get prescription sunglasses. LOVE those!

You're lucky, I look terrible in glasses so I have to pony up for these fucking things! Which, err, I can totally afford… *sweats*
@Desiderius Price It gets easier! I swear someone could stick their finger in my eye now and I wouldn’t even blink lol.

I tried contacts, but my eyes were like no way in hell am I sticking my finger into it!   (I’ve been glasses ever since, easier to use, clean, etc.)

I think maybe we’re all comfortable with how fucked up we are and are less judgemental in general. That is so weird because I had the opposite experience back when I was a teenage girl on a fighting game forum. When I outed myself, suddenly people started being nice to me and middle-aged men were blowing up my inbox. Ha!

I actually remember those days in MMORPG land pretending to be a man and arguing with preteen bigots quite fondly. That particular game had a horribly closed minded community as far as MMORPGs go, but for nearly a decade they were my peeps lol. I stick to single player games now, just because I can’t be arsed to go through the learning curve of being a newbie in another MMORPG community.
I can’t speak for normal writing communities. I dove right into smut first chance I got, so I’ve always been surrounded by pervs like you guys. For some reason I find pervs of the creative variety are very rarely douchebaggy in general, much less about gender.
