I think your style is exactly what was called for, because the horror came through very well, and I was not at all sorry to miss the gory details. And can I hug you for making this semi-realistic? I want to bash my head off brick walls when I read a story where a character is raped in Chapter 1 and is in love with the rapist in Chapter 2. It's so incredibly offputting, and makes me walk away from the story. Your story, however, makes me want to cry, because I care about Payne and his hurt, and I care about Matt, who is trying to help Payne. So, thank you!
