Seriously, it’s looking better and better. Everything I wanted to look at was gone, except for one car, which didn’t have a roof rack and smelled like something had died in it. With under 9,000 miles, it should NOT smell that bad unless the previous owner was a sweet little old serial killer who only dismembered victims on Sunday, after church services were ended… Yeah, I’ll pass on the dead person special.

@Melrick Yes, it is. I loved that damned car, too, but unfortunately nothing lasts forever anymore. On the other hand, the Volvo just keeps going, so at least I’m not totally stranded. And I have Minties!

Trust me, I remember the same thing. Now the batteries last 7-8 years, and the car will die before you can get through 2 batteries. *sighs dramatically* At least I’m not daft enough to announce that “this will be the last car I ever buy.” (It’s okay. He said the same thing about refrigerator, the range, and the last two cars before the Jeep. I love him anyway.)

That’s terrible ! Sorry to hear--I’m so old I can remember when if the whole car was dead it was just the battery, when winter was starting up and the battery hit 4 years old.

Thank you, Kagome, but no worries. The incident happened on the east coast and I’m on the west coast. And the person who got shot is out of ICU now, recovering in hospital.
He was going berserk with firearms outside a residence, shooting at other houses and at the cops when they arrived, and did not obey orders to put down his weapons. The police up here do not regularly carry firearms and only use handguns as an absolute last ditch measure. And they are trained to shoot to immobilise not to kill.
