If you create a story, even without content, it will appear in the archive. Interestingly enough, we don’t allow placeholders, so my recommendation is not to create the story until you have the first chapter ready to publish. You can create the story, check to see if it’s live, and then add the first chapter right away, though.

So I just published my first completely new story with the upgraded archive and I noticed a difference. On the old archive, you had to publish the first chapter when you published the story. Now it seems like on the upgraded archive you don’t need to do that. My question is, can I create a placeholder for future stories that I’m not ready to publish in my story editor without it showing up on the archive? I immediately published the first chapter without thinking that I should check if the story is live. How does that work?

The fic starts with Xander going to LA for Giles during the Beast episodes in Angel. Xan is captured, tortured and turned by Angeleus. He wakes alone, rejects Angeleus and goes out and captures Angeleus. After getting revenge, he has Angels soul returned and made permanent with a special tattoo. Xan had one done when human so he still has his soul. He also raids W&H wreckage and finds a laptop after getting a special map to find desired things. After dumping Angel all souled up and messed up, he breaks down on the way back to sunnydale. Spike finds him broken down on side of the road. Giles ends up helping bond Spike and Xander.
