  2. This just in: some school districts in the US are banning books about cats. Apparently, somebody needs to have a chat with the administration and tell them those books “aren’t about that kind of pussy.”

In the current political environment, can’t tell if that’d were supposed to be a joke that somebody took too far?  I mean, do we really want to press on the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide while we’re at it?  I mean, that stuffs deadly when inhaled, will eat through granite given enough time, and yet we provide it to our kids….  Sad times to live in TBH

It’s getting weird out there, and not even a fun weird. Recently I started coming across a conspiracy theory about lead paint being banned “because it blocks the invisible weapons the government uses to control people,” and my eyebrows became one with my hairline. Every time I run across it, I just think, “you ate the paint chips, didn’t you.” 🤨 Besides, if the government could control everyone, they would spend a lot less time trying to rein in crime, misinformation, and everything in between, and Texas wouldn’t petition to secede from the union every few years.

Albert Einstein said, “The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.” I just keep forgetting that.

  10. The people who leave negative reviews on e-books reporting sex scenes are my heroes. It’s easy enough to filter in smut when you’re reading fanfiction, but the e-book writers get coy about it in their descriptions. If not for sex-averse reviewers, we’d risk reading a “spicy book” that never passes first base, get clam-shelled over the lack of smut, and have to go start a fight with our husbands or something. ...not that I’m speaking from experience, or anything.

But yeah. Someone left a squicked one-star review on a book I was considering. Granted, the review was just the word “sex” written three times – like they’re starring in a demonic possession porno or something - and shoop, there the book went. Right into my cart. I hope it’s filthy. People like that are heroes.

At the moment, chat gpt does have filters, but OpenAI is planning to relax and/or remove those filters for verified adult users, tentatively in December.

I can’t decide if that makes me cringe or flinch, or if it’s something in between. That could go wrong in so many ways. 😬

  13. I worry I can’t contain myself to a short story though. Although that might be an interesting challenge. To see if I can do something that quickly. I once wrote a 30 page story (which is currently on AFF) in 48 hours. I’m all about the stamina.

  20. A principle that I usually follow in most things. Or at least I think I do anyway.
  21. Sounds good! People underestimate the K.I.S.S Principle. Keep it simple silly.

  25. Perhaps, although my initial feeling is that it’s not Halloween enough. My basic outline has a woman getting out of a sudden rain storm and happening upon a lone cabin with a guy inside. They ride out the storm together, both literally and figuratively. Many dark twists could be done from this.
