Well, love, the rumor is you are getting published. I'd take flabby or firm, whichever is shipped in first.
  2. I've read all posts above (Thank you, guys!) and see that majority of Authors stick with inspiration in writing. It's wonderful, but raises some questions: 1) What if an Author has 2-4 WIPs and lost inspiration on one of them, well, permanently? Would that fic become abandoned? 2) If an Author had a Contract and a Deadline; for example, to finish a novella in exactly three months from today. Would Inspiration matter as much? I do understand that most people here write for fun and don't have a deadline, but it would be cool to know how they would approach that.
  3. I've been thinking about things and it dawned on me that Reading is a bit of addiction in my case. A lifelong addiction, that is. I started writing only recently and have that feeling that Writing is addictive as well. Being at work and figuring out an outline of the chapter instead of working is a sure sighn, hehe! Most people here are more experienced at both. So, if you had to choose only one thing: Reading or Writing, which one would you keep? It might be difficult to decide for some people, I'm sure. So, imagine that for as long as you Only Read or Only Write there would be World Peace. So, which one, then?
  4. Angst - Mental anguish, unrequited love, torture, problems with work/parents/school/lovers, death, non-con, teen angst, rain, snow etc Fluff - Holding hands, sweet love, kindness, people around are nice, no hard problems, blue sky, sunshine. So, what ratio, in your opinion, works for you when writing a story? Mostly angst, mostly fluff or a combination?
  5. Nanaea - It's an impressive list of plot bunnies! I counted 12 including The Orgy (the most insane thing on these boards, hehe). Orgy is a collective WIP. And you have more of Original bunnies as well! That is pretty impressive, even if not all of them will end up as posted fiction. Three actual WIPs look like a very good number. foeofthelance - Pack Amongst the Stars: I went and looked at it, it's pretty good So, it looks like you have four WIPs going. Is that right? I sort of wonder how this works. Let's say, a person has 3 WIPs. Do they write 1 chapter per week and rotate them? Or is it more like months in between updates for the same story?
  6. Well, half of that list is, probably, going to perish. I voted for Voldemort, although, Harry and Voldy both might die. I agree with Leonhart29 on that. Snape will probably surprise all, there should be a weird twist about him. Overall, I can't wait for the book to come out!
  7. I do believe in copyright law. Creators of Original works should have control for at least their lifespan. Or they will be robbed blind and live a life of poverty while others are ripping off from their staff. But this board is not about that. Yes, because they DO own that work. But doing so on their part is naive, because what they dealing in is dreams and fantasy. When JK Rowling had published her fiction and millions of books were sold; who was the market for them? People who like fantasy. It's inevitable that people will build their own fantasy on that. And, with Internet being so available, it's inevitable that that it would be posted. Published writers who forbid fanfics, based on their works, are reducing their own fanbase. It's bad for business, so to speak. As long as fanfics are not sold for profit, it should be OK. I would like to compliment yamsham on this interesting thread

    Cheating

Cheating? Hmmm... Gets out the madlodger's Rule Book Rule 13: It's impossible to cheat if a person is not in the mutually exclusive relationship (which was agreed and vowed for by both partners). Clause A: If a person IS in the mutually exclusive relationship and the sex life ceased for six months due to lack of interest in each other, then exclusivity is automatically dissolved.
  9. Fact 1: The technology to perform an abortion is currently in existence Fact 2: Slavery is illegal (where I live) Based on those facts, it should be a personal choice for the pregnant individual on how to proceed. There are cosequences, of course. Any decision we make will lead to them. Good or bad, people would have to deal with them. But no political group should have power to deny other free sitizens access to technology or make decisions for them. As a fun thought, if males could get pregnant from a speck of dust from female's body, from a single intercourse, then this current issue would be treated much differently.
  10. Can't speak from personal experience or from writing yuri, because I havn't. I do know how I would personally approach it. I would base it on things like: 1) The reason for it. How did it come about. Was it unexpected spontaneous lust or it was building and boiling inside them for a while. Or was one of them blackmailed into it? 2) Do both characters have the same reason for it if it's consensual? One character can be madly in love, with a heart crying bloody tears, while another character is just experimenting for curiosity sake. Or just young and naive. 3) Their experience (I agree with EveKnigh on that point) 4) Their age and social status. Are they equals? A major gap would create problems and change the scene. 5) How does it serve the plot? Are there future plans for the couple (if they are a couple, that is)? All those things would come into play. The scene doesn't have to be pornografic at all. It might be in parts about how they feel or what ran through their heads and so on. Overall, sex between two females can't be so majorly different from m/f or m/m. Still the same species, not aliens, hehe. Let your imagination go.

    Bad Titles

StoryJunkie That story is written by a young Finnish person. She writes them in Finnish and translates to English. She is improving in language department consistently. I wonder why noone let her know about this. It might be because it's a repeat mistake for her. Plural -s and possession -'s . Finnish must have a major structural difference in that and it's hard to grasp. What surprised me is the fact that I didn't notice it, even though I read it. The only reason coming to mind is that in this author's fics I am used to filtering mistakes out in favor of plot. I will let her know about it. Thank you.
  12. Ai no Kusabi by a large margin. Loved both anime and a novel. A way they draw people is amazing, Iason and Riki are just gorgeous and look like real men. The story itself is heart-breaking and is a classic. Angst, yeah. Haru wo Daiteita and Fuyu no Semi. Really well drawn male characters and a good plot. Bronze, Zetsuai, music video Carthexis. Angst, lovely anime and manga Kizuna. Pretty sweet, boys are adorable. Gravitation for cuteness and light. Fujimi Orchestra, anime and manga. Extreme issues, graphic non-con. Angst. Like it a lot. Bi-Sexual&Gay Love Story-Our road of no Return. One of the best looking anime male characters is there. Don't like anime with extreme girly-boi-underager look. They are a bit cheesy.
  13. Definetely subbed. I see Anime as an artform. It is a combination of visual and sound parts. In dubbing, the original sound part is replaced entirely and usually cheaply. The authenticity is getting lost. They have famous actors doing quality voices. I can't imagine some english-speaking dude trying to come even close to Iason Mink's voice, for example. No contest. On another hand, many people have poor reading skills and are unable to keep up with subs. So much for education.

    Originals

I am not sure that the question is. The story Zero Tolerance by Ayato is in the Original Slash. It contains 25 chapters, last updated in January 4. Ayato has many WIPs, the last one was updated end of March. I like that story as well and waiting for more. Zero Tolerance
  15. I am a novice writer for sure. But an experienced reader. I see many people writing 5 to 7 fics at the same time. I see new fics being posted without old ones being updated. It became even more apparent when I started working on Golden Nuggets (Original Slash List). For that project I read through entire slash section and a few others as well. It seems that people would post some very promising stories and then post others and then some more. Some are getting updated, some, sadly, don't. So far I can only manage 1 story without fear of quitting. Can you, guys, handle that many fics and would they get finished? Edited in response to EveKnight75: All WIPs from all sites are included. Not just AFF. The main idea of this poll is to find out how many WIPs can be handled by one person. Same stories posted on multiple boards are counted as ONE WIP, of course
  16. This topic got me interested. I have only written three chapters of my first fic so far. Wasn't sure that I even had a 'style'. Well, from reading other people's replies, it looks like 'third person omniscient'. Yeah. The story is planned out and I know how it will end. The chapters themselves are long, averaging about 5000 words. Every chapter is a separate unit, in my mind, at least Every chapter is a sort of mix; dialogue, non-dialogue, flashbacks, smut. It was supposed to be dark but my readers confirmed that it is actually funny in places. Hmmm. The chapter two smut scene is 'hetero goblins kissing'. About six people said it was funny. Two people said it was disturbing. Writing in a first person's view would be creepy, because the main characters are Harry and Draco. Overall, I try to write it in a spirit of HP books. Like, it could belong or be a part of them. At least before al the heavy Draco/Harry action, LOL! Too many people write HP stories which don't feel like books at all. Does that answer your question?
  17. Don't have one. Don't feel that I need one at this time.
  18. The mystery of madlodger's avatar revealed: It is a part of the drawing I made using a black pen and a sheet of paper from my printer. I made that drawing because of desire to have a one of a kind avatar for my livejournal. It is a picture of a frog writing a novel using a pea-cock quill (you'll see 'end of chapter' written by it:) I placed that picture on my livejournal profile page here: My LJ profile So, yeah, I use the same avatar here as on my LJ.
  19. madlodger I came up with it a few years ago when needed a name. It fulfills my personal username requirements: 1) One of a kind or rare. 2) Ageless. Does not represent current interests. Can be used forever. 3) Easy to remember. Hopefully:) 4) Easy to spell. 'mad' is one syllable and 'lodger' is two. Some people still spell it as 'loger', unfortunately:( 5) Neutral. Does not disclose any personal info. 6) It is a disclaimer in itself, hehe! I was flipping through Concise English Dictionary looking for ideas. All usernames made of one single word were taken by others. A word 'mad' popped at me. I decided to combine it with another and make a unique name. After few crappy attempts a word 'lodger' had suddenly occurred in my mind and hence madlodger was born. P.S. I wonder how the name 'Madapple' came to live, ha! This is my only name on net and it will remain unchanged.

    Harry Potter

    Wicked by Desolate03 http://hp.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=544178467
  21. Hi, everybody! Am I new? Well, not brand-new. A few dents and scratches here and there, but waxing and polishing makes them almost unnoticeable. Not very efficient but the seats ARE fine leather. Mostly nice purring sound, sometimes goes to mad screeching and back for no apparent reason. Have difficulty starting up, but will reach the destination, ones started. Eventually... To get serious, my penname is madlodger. I read Harry Potter and Original Slash. Have been a reader all my life and a fanfiction reader for years. Started my own Harry Potter fanfic a while ago. Top Draco, hehe. It is my first story EVER. So far so good. I do appreciate concrit reviews which point to negative things as well as positive. Would not beg for reviews, though. Who needs pity revvs? Love- Slash, angst, good plot, romance, pretty men, demons, orange marmalade. Hate- fluff and people who blackmail for reviews. madlodger
