  1. Genuinely awesome! Thanks for sharing this, JayDee
  2. Well, sex in the context of writing is just a little bit like cake. I mean, you get the flour, eggs, sugar and fat, and you can make any version of any cake type thing you want. It’s all just a question of quantity and combination… um, technique… and there you have it! It was a plain old victoria sponge with a bit of jam, now it’s a decadent moist madeira. Or maybe it’s even a multitude of cupcakes with swirly buttercream icing… Don’t judge me – it’s Christmas.
  3. Well, since I’ve been writing oodles of het stuff lately, I’m counting myself as trying something new. Also, I’ve written a few things in particular recently that have had me eyeing the spirits cabinet with longing, though I swear I haven’t touched a drop. It’s an interesting question, though I don’t think we should be afraid of having recurring themes in our writing. Many great writers have them. For myself, having discussed this just the other day, it’s becoming clear that I have a tendency to write varying degrees of comedy and wretched despair. Sometimes I mix them together in strange ways. As for branching out into other genres, it’s harder to do with fanfiction, really. But ‘write what you know’ is good advice for the most obvious reason of all: being that there’s not much point in writing a story set in 18th century France if you don’t know the first thing about it. As far as historical fiction goes, much better to play with a period that you’ve previously had a hobby interest in, or else risk getting lost in the research. Also, write what you love, because even if you’ve done it a million times before, your love will show in what you produce at the end. Well, that’s what I tell myself, anyway.
  4. Merry Christmas All… and Happy New Year for every one of us!

We have finally had our dinner. This year, I got it done for just before six. I am stuffed full of turkey and homemade trifle (minus the alcohol). I bought the dog some toys and treats, but he has been much more interested in pulling crackers with me. Obviously, chews are boring gifts for dogs, just like ties for humans. Next year, I’ll consider getting him a miniature screwdriver set.

Now I am going to lounge on the settee with my flashy christmas jumper on, and my christmas pudding socks, so as to watch Call the Midwife   . Oh, it really is flashy, btw. It has a button. I look like a christmas tree.

Work tomorrow. But for now, sending out huge amounts of  and  to everyone here. Hope you’re all having a fabulous time. :)

  5. Ok… I guess I will make a start on the next chapter. See if I can get it done for Christmas.

Add in a dash of zombie apocalypse with those hordes of shoppers, and you can have *both* a halloween and a holiday story.  :)

If I ever get my hands on the dirty bastard who shoved a pint glass down the gents toilet, it’ll be a halloween story of sorts. But then, the same gang were thrown out the club, and kicked off a load of trouble outside. They were searching through the cctv for the police this morning, because they’d been throwing glasses at the takeaway next door and nearly hit someone. So maybe they will get prosecuted for a public order offence. We can hope.

And… I’m not going to finish. Maybe Boxing Day.

Went to the ASDA this morning. Picked up a monster turkey, free range, corn fed. No added chlorine…. yet. *sighs* *shudders* I may have to give up chicken if that ever happens, I kid you not. And I feel the same way about chicken as Clegane does. :( Maybe I could keep and kill my own. It’s a thought. Or just go vegan. Without chicken, there’s not much point in eating (or drinking) anything else animally.

But the turkey… they greyhound has seen it. It’s as big as her. Her eyes nearly fell out of her head. I’d have got a smaller one, but they had three left and that was the smallest. :/

Clegane, meanwhile, is just in the middle of being massaged into a gooey lump. But he’s about to spoil it by laughing, and he knows this, but it’s okay. Tormund has some plan to just carry on until he’s stopped resisting or something. I don’t know. It sounds more aggressive than it actually is.

  6. Oh wow… I just found the entire soundtrack the ‘The Tribe’ on Spotify…

I am now reliving some strange part of my youth (that wasn’t really my youth as such, because I’m always amazed by how recent The Tribe really was. I was in my twenties.). I always have this idea I was watching it while I was at school. But no… I must have watched it on sundays when I was hung over after being out on saturday night.

Next I’ll be digging the dvds out… Gods, how I loved Lex… why the hell wasn’t he ever in anything else ever again?

@CloverReef  Uh-oh, so we’ve got “Hermits United” gathering going on here?  … scampers away … :safetocomeout:

    2. CloverReef

      CloverReef

@Desiderius Price If by gathering, you mean a bunch of people individually standing alone in a forest far far far away from each other (and hiding if they accidentally picked places too close together for their hermit holes) then… yes. Unless Hermits united is a weird doctor who reference… then… idk. Maybe? My brain’s not working. Why am I still talking? I just randomly thought of a motto for my hermit club, but I don’t know how to make the others vote… Happy birthday again BW

  10. After all the crap lately, guess who is putting up the Christmas tree alone? Yep… because, well I’m not quite clear on the because. I took some poinsettia’s around to various neighbours earlier. My mother is under the impression it can be put off even further. Except it can’t, because later this week I will be good for nothing, what with work and various other things, like appointments and other activities. Her birthday meal is one. I haven’t done any christmas shopping. I’m looking at friday at this point.

I’d write in rebellion, but all the words are flying around in my brain like shrapnel right now, and have been doing for a few days. I don’t know what this means. Maybe an extended break again. :( I hope not.

I know moving all that furniture about seemed to finish me. I could barely move for two days… then I had to go back to work. I don’t know how to survive this week. I have to go out twice to eat. A dicey prospect on my medication, let alone with the lack of energy. I really don’t have a Christmas in me.

I know retreat isn’t the answer. I know it. But honestly this shit is just like stumbling and crawling around in thick, black smoke and the urge to just stay still is unbearable.

I need space, and time, and something easy for fuck’s sake. Just one thing that’s easy. I am so tired of fighting this.

Damn. I’m going to make myself a neat, orderly list. When all else fails, a list. Because giving in is not an option.

    *sighs*

Please send jokes. Or cute pictures.

      :) I love my dogs.

Well… I’ve done the tree, and made a list of things. I’ve also made a shopping list.

But now I’ve been made to pay for making a shopping list by way of a ridiculous argument followed by sulking and slamming doors. I give up.

I’m just going to reread the fic, see if I can have the words arrange themselves in some kind of order again. Because seriously, I just can’t be here. I need something fun.

pippychick - GoT - We're All Going to Die

    Chapter Thirty-eight
  12. Most of the next chapter is ready. Commencing read throughs. Then, maybe, I can finally get back to the sex scenes. At last. Or some of them. I’ve been doing a lot of plotty stuff last few chapters. I had to separate them to do it, because when they’re together, pretty much all they can think about is doing each other.

  14. Wow… these settees looked a hell of a lot smaller in the shop. Now I have to rearrange again. Already did it twice before they got here. Can’t move for settees. Send help!

Plus side. I have two happy dogs, who tried them out first. I swear the greyhound was there almost before the blokes put them down.

  15. What a horrible day!

However, I seem to have managed to write most of a comedic chapter, somehow, in the middle of it all. Just a bit more to go, if I can concentrate.

lol… I think mainly Clegane is really pissed off that Tormund has outdone his: “I’m not a Knight.” statement about a hundred times over by saying: “I’m not a King” *giggles* They’re just working some things out, I guess. Also, Clegane has just admitted he’s pledged himself to Jon Snow, and Tormund is all pissed off about that, because.. well.. he belongs to them. This is so exciting. I really wasn’t expecting it, but it does make perfect sense. The making up after will be amazing.

Mind you, at this point it’s getting to nearly 48 hours post chapter posting, and not a peep which I expect on aff since reviews are few and far between here, but not even anything over on ao3, which makes me think that after writing this I might have to take the previous one down to have another look at it. :(

Maybe that 2% really does matter.

  19. That’s interesting. Just for the laugh, I tested my latest chapter. It has 449 sentences, of which 9 start with ‘the’… I’m assuming that’s ok. It’s like two per cent though.

      pippychick

Actually, last thing, while I’m at it… may as well get it all out. And I realise this might sound a bit cold, but…

Am I really the only person who looks at Melania’s christmas decorations and thinks:

Here is a women at her sexual peak, married to that thing, and wow – that’s probably as close to joy as her soul can get right now.

@pippychick Melania’s Christmas decorations would strike fear into my heart at Samhain. Seriously.

@Desiderius Price That’s a splendid plan. Let him go wage war, one on one, with the Hermit Kingdom. Oh, wait… bone spurs… ::pauses to spit::

  22. Well, there is plenty of drama at my house tonight. We have just had to throw my aunt out after a litany of bad behaviour. Including getting dolled up and sodding off for a drink in the pub when my mother was rushed into hospital with a gallstone attack, leaving me to go in the back of the ambulance. She’s spent the last few weeks completely ignoring us, especially my mother, sneaking in and out without so much as a word. Now she’s gone.

Tried to talk to her first, but (once we’d insisted on her putting her bloody phone down), it’s like she just can’t admit how bad she’s been. Her response to going out during the ambulance thing? “I only went for one pint.” Well, fuck me. I can ony feel the utmost pity for her children. Seriously.

All we have done is help her.

The absolute best came as she went out the door, when she told my mother she’d driven my dad and my brother to suicide, and her second husband too. My mother has been widowed twice.

I think good riddance to her.

For perspective, this is the behaviour of a forty-seven year old woman.

In other news, I am nearly 2000 words in to the next chapter.

    1. pippychick

      pippychick

Thanks @CloverReef She’s in bed now, but it’s been stressful for her for weeks and weeks to be honest. This has been the final straw tonight.

@Desiderius Price I’m off to bed myself now, so we’ll see, but I have to be up in like four and a half hours for work. Trust me, my mother has not had the best of luck. Even hours later, I can’t believe her own sister, someone she’s given refuge to, would say something like that.

Thank you so much! Yes, I think you’re right about Tormund. He finds hope where he can, and if it can’t be found, he will make it. He’s the opposite of Clegane in many ways, who seems to have found some kind of weird home in hopelessness. It’s like his friend. Yet he’s just as much of a survivor, and just as impressive. During the course of this story, it will be interesting to see how their sway over each other changes. For this upcoming war, and perhaps for a while afterwards, Tormund has the more appropriate outlook. Brienne is where the two meet in the middle. But later, Clegane’s outlook might prove useful, really, and wouldn’t it be interesting if Tormund ever came to rely on Clegane’s strength? On that ability to let despair in and still win anyway? As for the actual ending, I am having interesting thoughts about Varys now, in order to thwart my evil muse (shhh! don’t tell it anything!) Daenerys will never ‘break the wheel’ – she’s likethe Readers’ Digest Prize Draw – too good to be true. Chase that and you’ll chase it forever. Varys, however.. I think he’s got definite anarchist tendencies. If anyone is a candidate for breaking the wheel, and probably melting that bloody chair… it will be him. And if anyone will think it’s slightly weird that three people as hard and experienced as Tormund, Brienne and Clegane can go wandering off into the north with the Night King dead, never to be seen again. Well, that person is Tyrion. This will work. I am sure of it. Well, I’ll leave Westeros in a happy place. The next tyrant is not my concern.

    Pippychick's Review Replies (TV)

Thank you again! So glad you enjoyed this chapter. And that ending seemed particularly poignant, but fitting, I think. To reach that pinnacle and realise how much there is to lose now… although of course, Brienne is feeling rather emotional at that point. More so than usual. She’ll get used to it… or so my Tormund muse assures me. I can’t help wondering how it will affect either of the lads when they end up inthe middle. Whatever they get up to in the ensuing chapters, they’re going to have to be quiet as little mice. And take things very slowly… unless they pitch their tent about a quarter of a mile away from everyone else, but that’s really obvious too. *giggles*
