I am seconding Big Sam's suggestion of hot tea with honey and lemon.

I am stating that Red can replace the tea with hot water (or lemonade) if he prefers, and add a shot of whiskey to it (see Hot Toddy Recipe.

I am a fan of Hot Toddies for sore throats, as my mother used to make them (sans whiskey) for me whenever I got sick.
