Why can't I privately access 18+ content?

I made a burner email address to access all my NSFW content and this site is the only one in existence that I have encountered that 1) demands I not use a private browser to access content and 2) demands my actual legal name to make an account. I know it says the information is kept private. I know I’m probably overly paranoid, given I live alone and nobody could reasonably dig through my search history beyond the advertisers that are probably already tracking me in Incognito mode. But I can’t understand what all this security is. Why can’t I just read the fanfics without giving this website my whole life story? It’s odd and it’s frustrating.

You can browse stories via a VPN once you’ve activated the account. We only require that you not use anonymous browsing while activating the account and setting the site cookie.

As far as entering a real name, that’s also a fairly common requirement for many websites. That information is never made publicly available.
