READ ME: Validation/Password Reset Issues

We’re aware that as the emails containing account validation links and password reset links are sent out, some members are experiencing problems. This thread should be used to list your archive profile url so we can easily locate everyone needing a manual link once we are able to generate those again.

The earlier emails contained the word “password” at the end of the first link. That caused the link to fail, but if you copy and paste the link into a new browser tab, and then backspace out that word at the very end of the link, and hit enter on your keyboard, it should work.

Once you’ve gotten the screen saying you’ve successfully activated, the password reset link should work. If it doesn’t, please add your url to this thread.

My problem is a bit more complicated - I haven't logged into AFF for over 2 years and the old yahoo email I used to originally open my account no longer exists. *headdesk* I know I should've updated my account ages ago but I lost interest in writing fanfic and just forgot. I have no way of receiving any confirmation emails and no way of proving this account is mine.

Okay, I suppose it makes sense. I’m a fairly new member so I’m probably close to the end of the list. Just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it somehow. Before the problem, I got several emails.

Manta said that the emails are getting sent out based on registration date, so if you’re new-ish you’d be near the bottom of the list, but hopefully you’ll get it soon and won’t have a problem with activating and resetting. Just read the instructions BronxWench has been posting in response to users having a problem, but let us know here if the instructions don’t work for you.

Cool. I definitely registered only about a year ago if I’m remembering right. Though I have a vague memory of having an account many years ago but apparently I didn’t because I had to register.

If you had an older account, and used the same email address to register a new account, BronxWench has merged and purged that.    She went through some thousands of duplicate accounts by herself, with the help of George Glass, to merge and purge.
