Study Date (my version)

I want to do an extended version of the story Study Date. But the TOS Team can’t find the original author. I just want to collaborate with him and use his story as footnotes for my version. I’ve decided to just make it my own without the original author’s help. Which mean’s I will not use his dialogue or sentences or plot points. I will try to write it on my own. I might request a co-author or collaborations for help since this is my first time writing fan fiction. 

What do you think I should do?

As we’ve discussed, your story would need to be entirely your own work, with no discernible elements from the original work. I know it’s frustrating, and I do sympathize with your desire to work with the original author, but unless that member responds to my inquiries, my job is to make sure his work is not compromised in any way. It’s been nearly six years since that member access the site last, and the best I can do is to attempt to contact him again, which I will do.

thank you for your support. If you can’t find a way to contact the original author, it’s ok because I have plenty of new ideas for stories up my sleeve.

Filing the elements off of another’s work is hard, I think. As much as I regret the disappearance of authors and stories I’ve liked, I don’t think I could do it myself. I hope it goes well for you.
