Guest ChickenSparrow Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 This topic was previously posted by GurusGhouls back in 2007, but the topic thread is now locked. Has there been any further consideration about adding word counts or, as Harley Quinn hyenaholic suggested, word count ranges?I agree that it would be useful to readers even if some writers might become competitive about it. In my opinion, writers who make word counts into a pissing contest are just going to find something else to compete about anyway. The word count issue would be a really helpful search tool when readers are looking for stories of certain lengths. The thing about looking at the number of chapters to gauge story length is that chapter lengths can vary greatly. A one chapter story could be 100 words or 100k.What do others think? Quote
BronxWench Posted February 12, 2015 Report Posted February 12, 2015 As far as I'm aware, this is not on the list of features we're looking to incorporate as we roll out the new code for the archive. I'm not sure if that will change, but I haven't seen any requests for this feature since we've been rolling out the code. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted February 20, 2015 Report Posted February 20, 2015 When adding a chapter, there IS a word count feature while editing. However, it does not display in the finished chapter. As far as I know, displaying the actual word count was never part o the coding, or intended to be part of the new coding. Quote
