lordhellebore Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 I hope I'm in the right place here. I tried searching for the specific issue, but couldn't find a clear answer.I got a "Disclaimer warning" review, telling me that in my Story "What Men Call Love" in the "Harry Potter - Het" section (username "lordhellebore"), I had to put a disclaimer for a poem from the 1800s that is in the public domain now. I'm just wondering if there have to be disclaimers for texts in the public domain?Thank you. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Not a disclaimer, but a citation. When you use source not your own, it needs to be cited. Quote
BronxWench Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Hi, What we need, actually, is a citation for that poem. You can add a small note at the bottom of the chapter, for example. From "One Word Is Often Profaned" by Percy Bysshe Shelley. Even if the work is in the public domain, anytime it's quoted, it still needs to be cited. It does not need disclaiming, however. Quote
