I believe the story was titled "Plains of Rohan" and involved the Three Travelers (Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli) finding a woman in Rohan who joins them on their journey. I believe the woman's name was "Alariel" or something similar to it, and she eventually has to undergo a mating ceremony with a tribe of people and eventually leaves Legolas for Aragorn for a time, before they reunite in Minas Tirith.
