She likes the drinky-drink a bit too much, and then she gets mean, and judgmental, and then she starts to reminisce about how different things might have been with her first husband--my husband's father--and then I remind her that she cheated on HIM and now he's dead so she'll never find out, now will she, and then I realize that my remark was not a productive means with which to deescalate the situation, that I'm just frustrated because she has absolutely no regard for the feelings, needs, or wants of another human being, especially her son's... Yeah, so maybe not so much...
