Guest kitdkatwrites Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 I'm getting frustrated about the number of comments concerning my punctuation usage. I'll admit it that I pretty much have no idea when to use commas, let along semi-colons and the like. I remember getting papers back from teachers with the corrections written in but never explaining the reason why one would be used over the other. I do refer to a basic guide that I found online but that does not appear to be enough to satisfy readers. Is this something I would request a Beta for? Or is there another forum somewhere to request proof readers specifically? Quote
DemonGoddess Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 betas are supposed to proofread, so yes, you'd look for a beta to help you with punctuation as well. Quote
Guest kitdkatwrites Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 Thank you DG, I'll go post a help wanted or something over there. Quote
Cuzosu Posted December 22, 2012 Report Posted December 22, 2012 You can also do an online search for "punctuation rules" to find out when to use which punctuation marks. I just did a Google search to see if there was a site that would work, and the first link that showed up had links for different punctuation marks, for grammar, for sentence structure, and examples listed under each of the various rules I saw. I did get a pop-up ad when I got to the site, but the site itself was http://www.grammarbook.com/english_rules.asp Quote
