DarkInuLord Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I bet you do. :3 Also, spam, I'm tired and going to bed, 'night! Quote
Guest MortiferLascivio Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I've never really seen one. Aren't they illegal to own? Quote
DemonGoddess Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I think that depends on where you live, as far as whether or not it's legal to own them. They're kinda cute, but smelly. Quote
Guest Knorg Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I've never really seen one. Aren't they illegal to own? In Britain, I don't believe it is illegal to own them, but it is specifically illegal to put them down your trousers Quote
Guest Agaib Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 In Britain, I don't believe it is illegal to own them, but it is specifically illegal to put them down your trousers Holy shit! that's messed up... O.o Quote
DarkInuLord Posted January 18, 2008 Author Report Posted January 18, 2008 Ah, it's illegal to own ferrets as pets in states like: Hawaii, California, New York, and I think Alaska, and I probably missed some. It's also illegal in a lot of countries. But they're awesome. >> Quote
PretentiousArtWhore Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 I love ferrets, even though I got a really nasty bite from one once and bled all over the place. I always wanted to get one as a companion for my cats, but the people I've roomed with have always hated them Quote
Kanashii Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Ferrets are cool. I used to have two of them once, one named "Doc" and one named "Marty" they were the cutest and most hilarious critters. Sadly they died from common ferret diseases. (One was around 5 years old, and Doc passed on when he was 6.) I used to love to watch them wrestle, they would "tow" each other around by the scruff of the neck and then hop around and "dook, dook, dook" in delight. (dooking is the noise ferrets make). Quote
Kanashii Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 The scent is the big thing with ferrets. All the ones you buy are always altered and descented, BUT, they still have a very strong "musky" smell...(Ferrets are in the same family as Skunks..Mustela) They are like waterbeds...Either you REALLY love them, or you don't. They are hard to take care of, and not all of them litter train easily. (they are also carnivores, NOT rodents) so require the same vaccines as cats/kittens. Unfortunately domestic ferrets are very susceptible to adrenal tumors and tumors of the pancreas and this is what usually kills them. Most states require them to have rabies vaccines the same as cats or dogs, but they have to have a special vaccine. Unaltered females will literally die if they are not bred, so they can be a tricky pet to take care of and not for the "beginner" (Cats are actually easier to take care of). And many ferrets perish from lack of proper care. (I used to work ferret rescue). Quote
DarkInuLord Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 Ferrets also grow really attached to cage mates. =/ My girlfriend owned two ferrets, a male and female. The female (Chloe) got out of the house somehow, and then the male (Yoda) got really depressed. He died two weeks later... It was really sad. Quote
Zimarah Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 My friend used to own a couple of them, but she likes odd pets. She and her boyfriend also own a nice selection of snakes (some of them large) and a small crocodile... Quote
