It was probably not the question she had been expecting, and had probably been mentally going over answers to questions that she had thought she'd get. She screwed up, emberassed herself on national television, and is getting grief for it. Really not such a big deal, and she's hardly the first. I'm sure she didn't mean to make a fool of herself, but its not surprising she did. I agree with foeofthelance as well. She probably wasn't paying much attention the question was asked. Although I've never really liked the "normal" answers to pagent questions. They tend to be so... I'll admit it, stupid. They're just inane.
