Silynara Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Dear All How do I change my Link to Your AFF Archive Profile URL. Mine is anime.adultfanfiction.com/ etc. I want to change it to hp.adultfanfiction.com How do I go about changing this? Please help me. Silynara Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Click your "my profile" link (found when clicking your user name, with your messages and etc) Select "edit my profile" Click "change profile information" <--shouldn't have to, that's the default opening tab Edit the link Quote
FairySlayer Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I've wanted to do this for a long time myself but even these instructions haven't worked for me: I've had my Website URL set to http://cartoon.adult-fanfiction.org/authors.php?no=1296883627 since before the board was upgraded (and it shows up correctly on my profile page), but my AFF Author Page always links to the anime section of the archive. (Could it be related to the fact that it's listed under "Previous Fields"?) I checked under every option in "Settings" and "Profile" and can't find anything remotely similar to "Link to Your AFF Archive Profile:" (and yes, I went away from "Change Profile Information" and back again as you wrote). I even searched for the word "anime" under each option, but no luck there either. Maybe the option is only available to administrators, moderators, or some other group level. If you want, send me a screen capture of what you see and I'll send back my version. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 It's in the required fields Quote
FairySlayer Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 It gives me only the "AFF Penname" field under "Required Information" (what I assume you meant). Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Try now and let me know if the link field now shows Quote
Shadowknight12 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I'm having the same problem as FairySlayer, and it's not working right now. EDIT: Now that I check, my link actually goes to where it should (Games) but it doesn't actually appear as an editable field on the Edit Your Profile section. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Okay, that's what I was after. Try it now, edited one more setting Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Cool, this is one of those settings where the major update changed something, and I wouldn't necessarily KNOW about it until someone encountered issues. Quote
Shadowknight12 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 As a completely minor and ignorable nitpick, is there a way to have the AFF Author Page link moved to a center position, just like Group, Posts, Joined, Gender, etc.? I kind of stands out the way it is now, all the way to the left. Quote
FairySlayer Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 It's there now, changed, and works just fine... except for the position change SK12 pointed out. (Hopefully just a tweak.) Thanks for jumping on this so quickly. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 It's actually right justified in the cell, like the rest of the data there. The problem you're seeing, is that it's parsing the link data, without there being a label preceding it. Just as the other items process that data, and show it to the right. What's on the left is a label, EXCEPT the profile link. I'll have to search through the skins and find where that's controlled. Quote
Shadowknight12 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 I read that, and all I understand is "something, something, label, something something, the problem is 'something something,' expospeak, guys you're all so silly, can't you see how simple this is?" (Joking with the admins, it's the new sword-juggling ) Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 In the skins, the text on the LEFT is a label of what is parsed from the database. On the right, is the actual data that was parsed. Except for the link. As it's a custom field, it parses and displays, without having a label. So it's to the left as well. What that means, is that I have to go through the profile skinning options and find where that's controlled, and tinker. Quote
Shadowknight12 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Ahhh, clarity dawns on me like the realization of one's own mortality! Can't you create a label that says "AFF Author Page:" and then have the link read the person's nick? Like "AFF Author Page: Shadow Knight"? Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Without having the forum pull data from the archive database, no. As the two programs are incapable of being bridged as it is. What you're talking about would be rewriting an entire subroutine within the files which control the skinning options. It's just as likely that by doing that, I'd make something not work right in the forum. What I can look in to, is the possibility of making a hook for the custom field instead. A hook, once written, can be enabled/disabled, without causing problems throughout the forum. However, that's very low on my to do list. The quickest fix, is a formatting fix, within the skins. Again, you're talking a fair bit of time tracking down exactly WHERE in the skin I have to do this. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Okay, did some tinkering. It should now work without having to dig through the skins or rewriting a subroutine FairySlayer 1 Quote
Shadowknight12 Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Awesome! The Demon Goddess does it again! Thanks for taking the time to fix this, I know you probably had more important battles to fight. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 LOL, it's okay. Gotta remember when they rewrote this thing, many, many things changed, so I'm having to figure out where/how to do stuff in the new version of it. Quote
FairySlayer Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 It works in posts but not on profile pages (text instead of a link). This isn't a big deal, but I just noticed that the Archive Profile field in users' profiles shows the text for the link instead of a clickable link. (I notice that it was moved from Previous Fields, I think, so maybe that's related.) Again, no big. I just wanted to make sure you knew. Quote
DemonGoddess Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 As far as I know, the links in profile were not meant to be clickable, but only text. I can check on that though. Quote
