Like growing up poor, or gangster type situation, or stripper stuff like that. I don't care about the pairing as long as it is not Ron/Hermione. LOL For now, I'll list what comes to me right off the top of my head. The one that comes immediatly to mind is a WIP (8 chapters so far) called Somewhere in the Middle by iampast1 - Draco/Hermione Another that comes to mind is Broken by inadaze22. Although in that one her life was normal just until after the final battle...then a rough life is putting it mildly - really good, heart wrenching story, it's complete. - Draco/Hermione Another that comes to mind (also complete at 5 chapters) is The Escort by HermioneMalfoyFan. In this one, again, hardships come latter in life. She's working as an escort to help pay for later schooling & raising a daughter (with a life threatning ilness) by herself. - Draco/Hermione I know I have at least several more (ones including her earlier life being very difficult), but won't get a chance to look for them until after the holiday. WesleyY7 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Share Posted November 25, 2009 Oh, can I just second the rec for Broken? That fic is amazing and heartwretchign and wonderful. I love that fic! When reading your request, I couldn't think of too many fics that fit your criteria and were good. I've read a few were Hermione's father beat or raped her, but they were so over the top and OCC, I'm not even going to bother. One fic did come to mind though: A Lovely Delirium by the amazing Kyra. Hermione's childhood isn't talked about until the third chapter, but it's still a powerful moment. This is a Draco/Hermione by the way. Another story I'd like to recommend is Out of the Box by inell. It was written for the Hermione Big Bang this past September. While it's not about her childhood, it is about Hermione's rough life and her journey back to a safe and normal existence.
