So I wrote a fanfic where Optimus Prime and Bumblebee hook up casually (in my fics, Autobots get together casually for fun and/or comfort). It was originally a one-shot but I was thinking of going further with it and exploring the relationship that develops. The only problem is that it involves some Bumblebee angst. It's not overboard - he doesn't take a circular saw to his wrists while listening to The Black Parade on a continuous loop or anything - but I'm just worried that people won't buy an angsty Bumblebee when he's normally pretty happy-go-lucky, especially since the fic is set in G1 canon. I really need a second opinion on this. The angsting will involve a small amount of crying and some comfort sex, if that makes any difference.

also on the yaoi vs slash thing, yaoi tends to be like more... I wanna say formulaic? Like it follows certain conventions like the taller, stronger, more assertive guy always tops. And also whereas in slash the pairing is always denoted as follows: Soundwave/Ravage with the person in front of the slash typically being the one who tops, in yaoi the pairings can be denoted as Megatron/Soundwave Optimus Prime x Bumblebee Inferno = Red Alert and the /, x and = all mean different things but I'm not sure what.

So far all my stories are male/male slash. I give both characters "equal time" because a) it makes for longer, better, hotter sex scenes and I think it's important to focus on what's going through each person's head because it helps to establish the dynamic.

I don't really mind that because it means people want more - and it makes me want to write more. I only do one-shots because I have a thing about not putting up a story till it's all done, so when I get the "update please!" reviews a) I don't feel guilty because it clearly says "The End" on the last page and sometimes I get inspired to write a sequel. I wouldn't have written "Stud" if someone hadn't reviewed "Welcome Home, Noble Voyager" asking for more. And if I hadn't gotten an encouraging review for "Stud" I probably wouldn't have written "Conga" which takes place in the same continuity as the other two fics.

I squee over all my reviews because I love getting them. The latest one I got was from an author who told me he/she normally doesn't like the kind of fic I write but he/she finds my fics really hot. He/She even plugged my work in one of his/her author's notes so I'm really really happy about that

I don't think it's that they're ashamed to admit they read/write fanfiction so much as they feel kinda funny/embarrassed to admit that they read porn. Maybe we should compare number of reviews on fics that have plot or are rated for non-sexual adult stuff to the number of reviews on fics that are just PWP (like mine are).

Meh. The hit counter goes up every time the page is loaded, so someone could click your story, read a few lines and decide it's not for them, and just hit the back button. On the flip side, if someone really likes your story, perhaps they come back to read it a few times. Whoever mentioned the 1:100 ratio for reviews:hits is about right. The most reviews any of my stories have are two, and while they all have robot sex none of them have anything hugely squicky (even the non-con aspect isn't especially violent - the "subs" are basically under orders/too drunk to resist). All of them have hits in their hundreds. The reviews are in single digits too.

Like I said, there's a considerable height diff in canon between them, but size fetish would probably work - part of the attraction for Mr 10' is that Mr 30' can pick him up, cradle him in his arms etc.

I don't mind not getting reviews (I have this theory that people feel weird about reviewing porny stuff which is what I write) but come on, at least rate the story. Just something to let me know you got to the end!

So, I'm halfway through writing a story and considering what warnings to put in the summary. There's a pretty big size difference between the couple in the story - one is ten feet tall and the other is thirty feet tall, and those are their heights in canon. Should I warn for macro, or should I just put the pairing in the summary?
