*bump* I've had quite a few views now for both fics but only 3 reviews overall :/ is this particularly normal or does it mean I'm really bad and should never write anything ever again?

I think the problem is definitely that, what with site being Adult Fan Fiction, partnered to just regular Fan Fiction, readers are probably going to assume that anyone posting is posting something that has adult content all over it. Which to be fair, like someone already said, doesn't have to be sex, but I think thats what people expect. I admit, I've posted a review once before that asked for two characters to get it on, but only in the sense of 'the tension you've built is fantastic, please break it soon!'. I certainly didn't mean it to come across as 'I'm only interested in the smut in this story' comment - I can imagine a lot of people assume smut will turn up eventually and if a lot of chapters go by feel inclined to remark on it. A lot of reviews are probably innocently made. Unless you're insulting someone you probably don't stop to think too hard about how a positive comment could actually be annoying after all, if you're saying you like things and you want more, and more of a specific thing, how could that be bad? But I'm glad I read this topic, because now I will definitely be more careful when posting all reviews, not just negative ones!

I think the problem with reviews can be how they're worded. You can have valid points but deliver them horribly, like Maiafay said. Sometimes it's really hard as well, to review something that sucks very very much and not be a little bit patronising. You just want to turn around and say 'why are you a writer?' but that helps no one. And then you have to try and put into words why exactly it sucked, which is also hard! But then as a writer I understand that bad reviews hurt. I hate reading my reviews sometimes because I've had nasty ones before and they really do make you feel awful. It's as if someone just turned around and said 'you're shit, stop trying.' I don't think it gets easier either. You work hard on something, of course it'll hurt when people don't like it. But hopefully those people will be nice and actually critique, rather than being nasty and moving on

God this is awful, I started Hat Full Of Sky today I think I have an unhealthy crush on Rob Anybody. Cheese. Cheese could work. I reviewed one of your stories, the one about the Gulliver's stripper, it's not as good a review as yours was but I wanted to do something since you kindly reviewed mine!

Thanks for the review Keith any review is good, if it were all just 'wow dat rox!!!' I'd never know if I was doing it right! Thanks for the honest points you brought up as well, I have to be honest in that I was really writing that just to get that scene out of my head, but if I decide to write a slightly more involved Discworld story (you know, with actual plot) then your comments are a great help! That's got me thinking now about evolving it into a better story..... Oh, and is Rob really married?! I had no idea, I've only read 3/4 of Wee Free Men! Total shame. Maybe some sort of funeral scene needs to happen....
