heh, worked a full shift the 14th, went back later that same day and covered third shift, ended up working 13 hours, then 13 hours the next day, then a split double for 16 hours on Thursday.  Thankfully, I only worked 11 on Friday.  LOL

thank you all for the birthday wishes!

Very earliest iterations of ElderScrolls while it was still shareware and not called that.  Many Origin company games, big into Ultima for a long time, played the computer D&D games (was playing pen and paper D&D for years before that.  Duke Nuke’em, Doom, Hexxen, Wolfenstein;’ just to name a few of the shareware.

As to why I don’t have anything in my profile, I just never got around to it, to be honest.  I’m not a writer.  Not at all.  I am a reader and an artist.  So, I can appreciate art in the form of the written word, but can’t do it myself.  I was asked to get involved, initially, because of the iteration of IPB (Invision Power Board) at the time, was not being updated, nor was it being maintained correctly.
Like Manta, I think there SHOULD be a space for people to express their creativity.
As to moderation, we are careful and impartial about that.  We have to be.  For example, Hall of Shamers are not put there until I have proof positive that is ironclad.  Never on a supposition.
As to why I continue doing this, I like the part of it that I do.  Which is forum stuff, helping manta with some things, and, of course, the database maintenance and whatnot.  I like working in and with databases.

Yeah, kind of have filters.  Going into the raw data and sorting it in a way that I can pinpoint a little quicker the incursions.

At least you have filters for those logs. The cross referencing can be brain melting.  It would be more productive to use the spork on the the object of our frustrations. 😜

AFF is moderated but with clear and transparent policies. Disclaimers for fanfiction and anything parodying real life are to deal with potential legal liability for both members and the site. Content codes so readers have fair warning of content before getting into a story. Normally moderation leads to a violating story to be hidden till corrections are made. Sometimes a moderator is generous and does the correction for the user.
Plagiarism is not tolerated, Plagiarists are logged, put in the hall of shame, and content deleted.
Minors are removed along with any content due to legal liability.

DG and I didn't originally set up this site 20 years ago. The original founder set it up in protest of mass censorship on fanfiction.net and other creative writing platforms at the time. The first working name for the site was buffysmut and was running on a beta version of WordPress.

The name adult fanfiction became official late October early November 2002 and started using a site software called storyboard. Early 2004 the the original founder stepped back and handed control over to two moderators. Things  got messy and control consolidated to one person.  I was brought in around that time to just do maintenance and deal with the pastels that was the site layout.
Real life happened and the moderator that had control needed to step back and we entered the Era of the mod committees and bird brain admin. If I remember correctly DG started to help maintain the site in this Era. I had stepped away while maintain bare minimum upkeep because of how the mod committee had treated me.
The head of the mod committee and thier followers briefly managed to steal the site and pilfer donations.
DG had come to me and got in contact with the person the founder handed the site to and between the three of us managed to get control back and retrieve the stolen donations to cover the unpaid server costs.
After the dust settled,  DG was asked to act as the Executive for the site, while Ownership remains with Apollo(not active due to real  life reasons). My role became that of developer and technical admin. The first iteration of fiction portal came about a year after.
For my part, I've stuck with the site because at its core, AFF encourages literacy among adults and will not censor content unless absolutely necessary (hate crime/harmful or harassment to a living person/ self harming). In our 20 years we've only had 3 incidents like that. DMCA's we've only had one. The ability to freely express one's self is important,  especially in regions where such freedoms are limited. AFF is both a place for creativity and open discussion without being shamed by taboos or unreasonably imposed censorship.

What I’m hoping is that by looking at some logs, given the time it occurred, I may be able to find something out.  Won’t know until I try it.
