I’m not a fancy restaurant sort of person. Firstly the prices are stupid. Secondly, I feel out of place in them. I don’t drink alcohol or coffee, but I do enjoy a good hot chocolate. And I really don’t give a toss how fancy the food looks, only what it tastes like. It’s all going to look the same the next day anyway.

I suppose that if you eat out that you go somewhere where you enjoy the food and the company, if you’re able. I don’t mind “fancy” or gourmet (though my wallet sometime resents it,) but I try to avoid places where the chef goes “crazy-stupid” with the ingredients. If the food’s good, I’ll also happily eat at a “family restaurant” or a fast-food joint.
For pizza, I’ll try to go to an actual pizza restaurant if possible, unless the “other” restaurant has a reputation for serving a very good pizza.

I find those places going “take-out” only to be rather annoying evolution post-pandemic. It’s like… I can cook myself, so the point of going out to eat is the company & social aspect.
For when I’m driving long haul, I want the dining room as a “break” during driving, as my butt’s already in the car seat long enough.

I don’t care for restaurants where the food is pretentious, precious, or both. Now, I am a complete foodie, and I did work in restaurants when I was young (and spent my free time watching the chefs and asking questions), and I appreciate creativity and flair, but it needs to taste as wonderful as it looks, and I don’t want to leave a restaurant and feel like I need to stop for a slice of pizza on the way home because I’m still quite hungry.
And nothing beats a good pizza place, especially one of those little neighborhood places.

Well you’ve got a fair amount of time then.

With rare exceptions, when sedation is offered, it’s like Yogi Berra’s fork in the road. You take it.

Andy is really not happy with me right now. He’s dyslexic, barely avoided being forced to join a monastery at gunpoint, and just got stripped naked and spanked almost hard enough to need medical attention in front of a yard full of people he’s barely met. And he also got disowned by his father in front of the same people.

Hopefully I’m never cursed by one of these procedures, but now I know to opt for the sedation.

Whereas… Jeff’d be more embarrassed if he was forced to get dressed, didn’t mind showing up on live-television interview (annoyed they censored out bits of him), and basically disowned by his mother instead (during a court proceeding)

It’s like like feeling as if you’re choking for half an hour, or however long it was, because you are choking. They told me the worst part of it is when they’re trying to get it to go past the back of my throat. The worst part of it was actually from the very start right through to the very end.

I hope you get to recovering soon. I’ve had one gastroscopy. Since they were doing it to put a stint into my bile duct, I was knocked completely out for it. I can’t imagine having to have one without sedation of any kind, or having to drive home afterwards..

Wilde_Guess got a reaction from kagome26isawsome in So if its not one thing it is another. I now need to go get my left bottom wisdom too
Sorry to read about your difficulties, and good luck getting things seen-too. I had all four of mine removed in my early twenties, at my then employer’s insistence and expense. No cloves were harmed in the removal of my wisdom teeth. But I did get a small bottle of “enhanced” Tylenol to take for the pain afterwards, after driving back across town to where I was living then. They had it done on a Thursday afternoon, IIRC, so I only had to miss one day of work.

Most of it was rewriting, expanding a bit on old. Though there’s some additions too. Now, I’m into virgin material (at least for a while), it’s technically filling in what had been a four-year gap in the character’s development, which is the underlying theme to the episodic serial.
Ironically enough, now outlining and trying to figure out what I want for this next episode.

76k in only a month is damned good, even if that’s on rewriting. [jealous sigh.]

Mine’s likely jealous by now too. Haven’t worked on it since March. Instead, been focusing on Jefferey… up around 76k since start of April on that story, so that’s definitely good.

My ‘Potter Story’ was a ‘antidote’ to very bad m/m Potter fanfics featuring questionable erotic interests for Harry, combined with a well written Ron unintended time-travel story. It’s also jealous that I haven’t spent any serious time working on it lately.

For my potter story, it’s not an outline, but a spreadsheet. Initially wrote that ages ago, but it was a godsend when I returned to working on it a decade and a half after starting. Basically, each column’s a person (or group), each row is a day, and I’ve got one/two of the major things that person (or group) is doing in the cell. Not every cell’s full, simply the main points.

Lincoln Way was a “pantser” from Jump Street. Remember that it started out as a “anti-spank-o-wank” one-shot where questions got asked.
-
Wilde_Guess reacted to Desiderius Price in You should never, and I sincerely repeat never write without first writing an outline
To me, my process is mixed… sometimes it’s outlines, but other times, it’s going by the seat of your pants (ie, a “pantser”).
-
Wilde_Guess got a reaction from Desiderius Price in You should never, and I sincerely repeat never write without first writing an outline
I’m not sure what the “pantser way” is. As for Andres Augustin Floyd, he fell “out of the ether” as a teenaged rebel looking for a cause and career change between a Bananarama song and a Celso Machado instrumental piece. Outlines are your friend.

Wilde_Guess reacted to Desiderius Price in You should never, and I sincerely repeat never write without first writing an outline
Aw, I take it you’re trying to abandon the pantser way?
