  1. I believe Kayla will fight for Jack, be very possessive, but that will also cause her to suspect everything.

I read somewhere that a relationship is two people against the world, a co-op mode of a game that makes the game easier, fun and oh so worth it (think of Dark Souls, still beats the crap outta you but a tiny bit easier and is two player co-op), a two person team. When i picture Jack and Kayla, i see that, i see them as a team. Yes, Kayla gets possessive, yes she fights for Jack and her relationship, and yes she also suspects everything, and then in a couple of chapters something drastic happens that changes everything about the way she thinks, and then Jack and Kayla emerge stronger than ever. We are gonna see some angst in the coming chapters, that much is certain.

  2. Rhona teases Jack, making him uncomfortable, but he gallantly keeps his boner down.

Kayla sees that Jack is uncomfortable with the subject of Rhona, and being insecure and a little paranoid since the threesome, starts to distrust Jack even though he's down nothing.

Kayla starts to close off, Jack gets worried and asks her what's wrong, and she always replies with "it's nothing, i'm fine", this goes on for a while, and the more Jack gets persistent the more Kayla closes off, Jack's getting depressed, Jack's taking a walk in the park or something (the skating rink can be a good choice here), with Tara, and that's where he gets stabbed, or shot, then our mystery man reveals himself, which the majority (or just the three of us) seem to believe is Brad or Jeff. Jack's losing a lot of blood, and he's gonna pass out, Jack is in no position to defend himself, Tara rushes to his aid, fights off the assailant (has some help if its Brad, because there is no way she can bring him down solo), Tara comes to his side to help him stop the bleeding and calls 911, he's trying to fight it, trying to stay awake, but he's failing to do so, then he sees Kayla's face, where there was once love, adoration and trust for Jack is now filled with hurt and distrust, when he sees that he gives up, the fight suddenly left his body and he drifts into unconsciousness. Cue the hospital apology scene. This way Jack's alive, Kayla has apologized, their relationship with each other and Tara is fixed.

What do you think, could be worth a couple of chapters worth of material?

(I wonder what Joe thinks when he reads our fanfic...hmmmm.)

  3. Roller skating rink time! There's your third theory, @Mr_Fairplay. I don't know what happens there, but it's gotta be good.

Roller skating rink? hmm, interesting. This might be fun....oooh, oooh, i totally found like an awesome entry point for Jeff or Brad, they work at the rink, you know, operating the ice resurface machine (sorry if it's the wrong term, never been to a skating rink and there's no rink close to my home for miles). So, that way if there is a fight and Jack gets stabbed, it adds spice to being bled out (wow, never thought i'd say that). something along the lines of "The last thing i saw was Kayla's face, contorted, and tears flowing from her eyes, i looked to where i felt a sharp pain and found that i had been stabbed. Darkness claimed me as i bled on the ice".

Just focus on the words, 'Bled on the ice'.

It's funny how strongly i'm rooting for a fight....that's disturbing.

  4. No. Brad's parents told The Squad to stay away. Last we heard, he was going to prison, and they never followed up. We can assume he was given a lenient sentence or sent to that reform school.

Hmm, well this does leave Brad's return not quite outside the realm of possibilities, since his sentence is quite sketchy, i'd say he returns later on, at least 2 chapters after, i hope Kayla and Jack and hive a nice talk to sort things out in the next chapters. Me, you and couple of other people have come up with some decent theories, which in any case happen after the upcoming chapter if we take into account the hints Joe himself left us, since he says the next chapter is not as emotionally loaded, that leaves us with two main possibilities.

A.) Either Kayla and Jack are on the beginning of talking it out and towards fixing their problems.

B.) There is little progress made and Kayla takes some time to think things over, and then towards the end we see in which direction is their relationship gonna go.

C.) Something else i haven't thought of yet.

In any case, the next chapter is really crucial to determining the direction in which the story is gonna go, and i have a feeling something big is gonna happen.

  5. not by itself, or in normal times. I pictured it more as Jack getting annoyed that because of things Thona did, he started getting naughty thoughts, and just doesn't want to go there. Like showing him scantily clad pics of her.

And I think we can agree that Kayla is devoted to Jack and won't me looking for a MMF, but I think she was scared by the FFM because she didn't have Jack all to herself, and there was the nagging thought "what if he finds someone else he likes better?" Just then Jack starts getting distracted by Rhona sharing TMI.

Or even if it doesn't affect Jack (that much) he mentions it to Kayla, who gets a nasty attitude towards Rhona (away from my man!)

Now this i can totally see happening, due to Rhona being overly flirtatious Kayla starts to get worried, this results some insecurities to brew up in her mind, the seeds of which were laid down by the threesome. I agree with your theory that she's scared that she will have to share Jack and the nagging thought "what if he finds someone better?", i really don't think the flirting from Rhona affects Jack other than being uncomfortable, i don't think he has naughty thoughts unless he's stupid enough to jeopardize his already troubled relationship, and quite frankly Jack is anything but stupid, so he doesn't have that reaction, still it's not totally outside the realm of possibilities. I agree with @thismy, i'm also very curious to see what is up with Kayla's parents.

  6. I think Jeff showing up is an excellent place to go, as has been demostrated here. Unfortunately, it's been done SO WELL as fan fiction that it wuld probably keep Joe from repeating it in canon.

Rhona could also start some teasing/flirting with Jack. I've made some private suggestions to Joe. Rhona doesn't have to come right out and make it obvious, something like discussing some other guy with Jack that gets him TMI on her sex life.

And I'd like to find out what's going on between Kayla's parents.

Speaking of Jeff, anyone know what exactly was the sentence on which Brad was put away, and the time that he has to serve behind bars? I was just going through the possibility of Brad returning, so it just popped up in my mind.

  7. I'm afraid to say I don't. I'm a Midwestern guy. Sorry. If you look back through the forum I think a guest noted he was from Australia, so you might try to reach him.

Aw man, well, it's ok, its the thought that counts, i'll do some digging up through the forum and try to find him, but thanks anyway. ^_^

  8. We've probably got another week before the next chapter at least. I hoping for little fun cabin stuff. Maybe they play Mario Party.

ugh, this is going to be one looooooooong week.

Say, do you know anyone from Perth, Australia, or you yourself know a bit about the area around the beach? I'm gonna write a story based in that region, so i need to know about the places, wanna help?

  9. Ok. So here's what I see. Joe has left a lot of crumbs for us. First in chapter 29, I think, Jack thinks something along the line of "maybe the next year will be nice and easy." Or something like that. Then he says "if only I had known." How I interpret this, at least, is that we've got a lot more drama/strife/trouble coming at us. However, I'm not sure it will come immediately, or even soon.

On that note, one, I don't see Kayla, like I said before, having sex with another dude in a threesome. Or with another dude at all. First, Kayla says basically "with the guys we know? Yeah right." There is no guy besides Jack. Transversely, there is no girl besides Kayla for Jack. So if it were to happen, which is very unlikely, it's not happening soon. There's no guy that Jack and Kayla love like they love Tara. No one they need to "help." And I don't think there that stupid to think that another threesome will solve their problems.

Second, I enjoy the fights. I think the way Joe has written them has been great. And I loved the fight with Brad. It was epic. I don't think we're done seeing them yet, either. However, with the "old familiar face" returning, I'm not sure this means a fight is coming. If we're thinking practically, it's probably going to be Brad, or maybe Carson. I'm not ruling out another fight with Brad completely, but with Carson, yeah, I think I am. The point being, a fight so soon. I don't know. I don't think so.

There's no fight at least in the next chapter, i see Jack and Kayla and Tara trying to fix all of this, the result of all that i'm not sure, depends on Joe. You said, "How I interpret this, at least, is that we've got a lot more drama/strife/trouble coming at us. However, I'm not sure it will come immediately, or even soon." A part of that we have already seen in the form of the threesome, so that leaves the aftermath to be dealt with and it could get ugly. Like i said before, Jack and Kayla do not strike me as that kind of couple and like you said, another threesome or Kayla sleeping with another dude is highly unlikely, so i guess the odds are that it's not happening, that being settled. Any indication of any sorts of fights will be given at the end of chapter 34, which does anyone know is coming out? Joe said, an old familiar face will return, in the next chapters, not chapter, and like you said its not gonna happen soon. So, we can safely deduce the next one will be filled with more emotional stuff, though not as intense as chapter 33, my bet is that there is some progress made and Kayla is starting to come around. Can't really blame the poor girl, watching the love of your life having sex with another person, regardless of whether you love the other person or not, will shake one up, pretty badly in some cases. From the last moments of chapter 33, Kayla is starting to become sort of accepting to the fact, she'll need some time, but she'll come around. Let's see what happens.

  10. Either i see a fight coming up or Kayla having sex with another dude, and since a few people have explored 'the fight' aspect, myself including (though not anywhere as near as them, @thismy to be exact, damn good work man), let's see what the 'sex with another dude' aspect has to offer. I'd say even if they do go through with it, it really messes up Jack and creates more problems than there already are for the relationship, so it requires something just short of a miracle to save their relationship.

Honestly, i really don't have any idea what's going to happen, there are like so many clues out there and all of them point in opposite directions, like Joe himself said "an old familiar face will return", so that leaves us with a good chance of a fight in the coming chapters, but then he has called this saga, The Summer Saga, which( i dunno if you guys see it) is sort of pointing in the direction of Kayla getting it on with another dude. Now, most people here are of the opinion that the former is more likely than the latter, so that leaves us back to square one. Oh, and another thing, there are an average of 8 chapters per saga (give or take), and since we're already 5 chapters in, that leaves like around 3-4 left, just something that i noticed.

  11. @Mr_Fairplay

I like the theory. But honestly, I don't see Jack letting Kayla drift away. Kayla loves Jack. That's why the threesome hurt her so much. She needs time to figure it out, and to understand her feelings. Jack's a fixer, a helper. And he sure as hell will try hard to fix problems in his relationship. He might give Kayla some space for what? A week? That's max. Mor likely 4-5 days. Then he'd really start trying to work it out with her. This isn't a "Kayla is falling out of love" thing, as far as I'm aware. It's a "holy shit, my boyfriend, whom I love with all my heart, just had sex with another girl, whom I also love. But I allowed it, I encouraged and was okay with it first. I'm hurt, but I don't completely understand my feelings about this." Type of thing.

There's where I see it coming in. Jack lets her loose for a couple days, then decides it's time to talk. Kayla's had time to think, and she sees it necessary. They decide to talk it out with space, so they go for a walk. The worst thing you can do is comfort or discuss something uncomfortable in an enclosed space, especially a car. Then it all picks up from there.

Yeah, now that i've looked at it from a different angle, i guess you're right, even in chapter 33 during the aftermath, Kayla's starting to come around but it's still hurting her, i'm guessing (and i'm hoping) that Kayla does not sleep with someone else to even out the odds, Jack and Kayla do not have that sorta relationship as far as i can tell, and Kayla does not seem like the kinda person to demand that thing, but you never know. They have a really beautiful relationship and that would ruin the relationship, this is gonna come out so gay, but i love Jack and Kayla. Jack is surprisingly not that possessive of Kayla, if i was in his position and given i had a girlfriend like Kayla, i'd hang on to her like my life depended on it, and i'd be possessive of her as hell.

It could be Jack's shrink, you know who he sees after Walburn suicide, he did offer Jack some relationship advice, so there may be a possibility that he makes a return, and now he helps Jack and Kayla through this hurdle of their relationship, but if this happened, it would be...kinda boring actually.

I'm rooting for a fight, and the post-fight hospital situation, what are your preferences?

  12. Thanks, but naw, I'm just a crazy fan-theorist. I thought it'd be fun to bring him back, like you said, the starting of an apology. I did it because it seems to be a fairly plausable theory.

Dude, but still, it's awesome man, it came out better than expected, let's see what Joe does, man this suspense is killing me.

Here's some appropriate back story to go with your content, it's just general, like points and stuff, not properly written like you have.

After they come back from the cabin, Kayla sort of closes off, Jack being the good boyfriend he is gives her his space, but the more he gives the more she drifts away, this goes on for a month or so, slowly he's seeing very very less of Kayla, no text, calls or even meet in person, Tara's ridden in guilt and Jack reassures her, slowly she's letting it go, it's all good on one end but on the other end...nothing. He tries to reach her because well, he's worried and impatient now. He goes to talk to her at her house, (insert argument in which Jack's trying to get her to open up and Kayla's reluctant, but agrees...and that's where your part comes in). I'd leave a cliffhanger when Jack gets stabbed and passes out, i can picture the conversation like:

Kayla: Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God! Jack!, shit so much blood! Jack, stay with me! Jack, don't go, don't die Jack! I love you, Jack, please Jack!

    Jack: Hey, it's ok, i love you, it's ok, shh...don't cry, its...ok.

    Kayla: JAAAAAAAAAACK!

(this is where he passes out)

  13. Jack held Kayla for what seemed like hours. Her sobbing subsided, and she held him back. Jack felt his mind clear a little more. He thought back to the fight. Who was that person? Who stopped Jeff?

"Hey Kayla?" Jack whispered. "Hmm?" She replied, pulling her self up and pushing hair out of her face. "Who stopped Jeff?" He asked. Kayla actually laughed. "You won't believe it." She said. "I'll believe about anything right now." Jack smiled. "It was Brad."

Brad? Wait, what? Brad? No way. "I told you." Kayla laughed, noting the expression on his face. "How?" Jack asked. "He came out of nowhere, really. It was like, I was frozen, I had called the cops, but I couldn't run to you." She looked close to tears again. Jack squeezed her hand. "Then he just, appeared." She gestured vaguely. "He came in and beat Jeff to the ground. Jeff couldn't take it. Swung his knife, but it barley did any damage. Some how he caught you as you fell." She said, looking into Jack's eyes. "Why." He wondered out loud. Kayla laughed again. "He had a change of heart in prison, I guess. He rapped his shirt around your arm and everything. Basically carried you to the ambulance. I thought I was gonna have to fight him for you." She mused. "Wow." Jack breathed. "Who would have thought?"

    Who would have thought indeed.

I can see Joe's trust in you was well placed, now that was AWESOME man, Although, bringing Brad back is just pushing it a bit too far, but then again, it could be like a nice starter for Brad to you know, apologize for his actions? seek forgivenes? I dunno whats the right word here, my brain won't co-operate right now, haha. But yae, i can totally see that happening, this needs to happen.

  14. We were all expecting Kara having problems with Jack & Tara, once it actually went down. Although expected, Joe wrote the emotions brilliantly.

It's still possible to have the girls get together, flipping it so that Jack would be worried about Tara, and now even more so, coming on the heels of the biggest spat so far of their relationship. Just when Jack worries, for the first time, if he might lose Kayla, he finds her with her face between Tara legs. Instead of "what would you think if you saw me with another guy?" it would be "another girl" and his cousin to boot.

I also see a visit from Jeff as something that could be a good story.

But yeah, Jeff shows up, pulls a knife and slices Jack. Kayla has to cry over him "Please forgive me" in his hospital bed.

Now that's how i'd do the story from this point. Although, this may seem a bit sadistic but i wanna see Jack dead and Kayla crying her eyes out, i dunno, perhaps too much Game of Thrones does that to you? Anyway, THE BIGGEST SPOILER is the title itself if you look at it, "She is The One", it's like almost telling us that there's a big chance they'll end up together (unless Joe goes all George R.R. Martin on us).

Oh, and from a guy who also did pretty stupid things in his teen years, yeah, i was clingy as hell too, and every relationship, every crush blew up in my face, until when i turned 20, and i met her, my ex, she was just like Kayla in personality, but in appearance far from it, black hair, green eyes and two piercings on her bottom lip, damn she was amazing, and i was crazy about her and she was just as equally crazy about me, unfortunately it was short lived, just like Kayla she wanted a threesome...with another dude, and that thing f---ing freaked me out, i declined because that's where the similarities ended, unlike most people that i met on the internet the past 6 months, i do not share my girlfriend. We broke up shortly after on a completely unrelated issue, anyway that was 6 months ago, and since her just the concept of another guy with my girl freaks me the f--- out, whether im there or not, i just can't stand it. You might have seen a couple of my comments on the threesome and a follow up threesome with a guy, it's because of that.

  15. I don't think another threesome would fix this situation. Jack did absolutely nothing wrong so what does he have to make up for? At least not a MMF threesome. Maybe Tara and Kayla focussing in each other during another threesome like they should have in the first place might help fix it (I don't see how) but not a MMF threesome.

And I could NEVER see Kayla cheating. She's not that type of girl.

Dude, you just gave an amazing idea, Tara and Kayla, dirty girl on girl action! Now is that epic shit or what?!?!

The only reason i'm actually considering an MMF threesome is that Jack was okay with the idea, we all know that's only going to make matters worse, and since Joe himself said the next chapter has way less emotional stuff in it, at least its not in that one. Personally, i'd prefer we just move on from this threesome business, it just really complicated stuff and it really hurts to see Kayla and Jack like that, i'm rooting out that Kayla forgives him and nobody sleeps outside of their respective relationships anymore (with or without consent of their partners, whether they're present or not, i'ma one woman man and the idea does not sit too well with me).

  16. That's something Joe would write.

The first part I thought was well done, very realistic and true to the story so far. The second part, I don't think Joe would have a knife, but I wouldn't say Jeff doesn't.

Yeah, i agree, it's really good, but i'd prefer if Jack got wounded, like really close to dying, and Kayla full on crying and sobbing, and begging Jack to not go, and stay, live. So, when Jack survives ('if' he survives, personally i'd be half tempted to kill him right there), Kayla forgives everything and they have like a really emotional moment, and everything is good.

No, wait, even better, Tara dies, Jeff tries to kill Kayla and Tara saves her and gets stabbed instead.

  17. I don't see Kayla letting the threesome slide without a significant event happening, the only exception to the rule will be another threesome, a MMF threesome. Judging by the amount of hints Joe has provided us, i'd say the chances of that happening are small, but it could happen. Since, Joe said an old familiar face will return, i'm guessing its the significant event, and most probable are The Return of Brad, The Jeff Strikes Back (get it? you know where you have seen similar titles, come on you know young padawan).

Now, lets say, Jack gets really injured, like really really badly, that will make Kayla freak out over the idea of losing Jack, she that Jack's well being is more important than some stupid threesome, and forgives him, Jack recovers, I love yous are spoken, Happily Ever After.

Now that was the happy version, now for the more interesting versions.

Jack decides to give Kayla a MMF threesome to even things out, it does not go anywhere near good, Jack reacts badly going into a deep depression and refuses to talk to anyone including Kayla, his life starts to fall apart and eventually he kills himself.

Or, Kayla cheats, or they break up, or someone else kills Jack, or something else equally horrible that breaks Jack and Kayla up. In short, there's no version in which there's a happy ending.

  18. No, it's not his dick.

It's a folding knife. Jack instinctively moves in front of Kayla. Jeff flips it open, demanding Jack turn Kayla over. "The hell will that accomplish?!" Jack asks. Jeff doesn't listen. He's gone crazy. He runs at Jack, slicing his side. Jack screams out. But Jack knows about knife fights. He reaches into his pocket. Pulls out his own Swiss army. Flips it open. "Back off, Jeff!" He commands. Jeff laughs maniacally.

Jack lowers his knife to his side. Jeff is attempting wide, stabbing motions. Every one knows that's not how you fight with knives. What a pleb. Jack stabs out, in quick, jutting motions. He cuts Jeff in the leg. The douche recoils in pain. Jack's side is soaked in blood. Jeff is worse. He pant legs are red. He looks up he can't win. "Fuck you, you slutty cunt!" He calls at Kayla. Nope. Ain't happening. Kayla steps up. Slaps Jeff in the face. K.O.ed.

Jack and Kayla go back to Jack's car. Kayla demands to bandage Jack. He's lucky. It's only really skin deep. Just a long gash. Having some sort of pity, they go to move Jeff into his car. Jeff wakes up, climbs into his car, and speeds away. "It's all ogre now." Jack muses. "What?" Kayla asks. Jack just laughs. Checks his watch. Shit. 6:45. They climb into his car and speed away. Walk in the door as Jack's mom is setting the table. Home in time for dinner.

    --------------

That's how I picture a Jack v. Jeff fight going.

Bloody hell, that's damn brilliant. Although it could use some work, but still man, bloody well done!

  19. Fighting for Kayla... That would be original.

I would enjoy it though. The Jeff pipe bomb theory is my favorite right now. Right in front of zombie Walburn, then maybe Mad Brad.

In all honesty it'll probably be Brad or Carson. Joe did say "Old familiar face." So it could be from along time ago since he said "old." Also, familiar to who. Jack? Kayla? All of them? So many questions.

Yeah man, i'm pretty stoked for the next chapter as well, Joe is an excellent story teller, i just hope Joe and Kayla make it....without any more tormenting acts like the one we just witnessed in the previous chapter.

Oh yeah, and Zombie Walburn is my favorite theory, though it would be better if he came back not as a stereotypical zombie, moving all slowly groaning and stuff, it would be pretty badass if he came back as like a lich or something.

  20. I noted this in an earlier post. At least the fight.

I agree that it's probably not likely, but it would make for an interesting read. Not sure how it would connect to the threesome.

Anyway, I'm sorta a fan of this theroy in general.

Go back to the time of Walburn's suicide, Jack finds Jeff's text on Kayla's fun, completely blows up on that fact and when he finds out that Kayla's first time was with Jeff, so in order to compensate Kayla suggested the threesome, now in hindsight she's regretting that decision. So i honestly don't know how Kayla gets over that fact, there may be a chance of a MMF threesome but since Jack's initial reaction was a "NO! NO! NO!..." and the only reason he considered the fact was because Kayla had given him a FFM threesome, so even if they do go through with the idea, the odds of the success of that event is really low, i.e. it will makes things way worse than they already are.

So, the Jeff-Jack fight makes sense, Jeff comes back full on stalker mode, he's violent, let's say he's a danger to Kayla's safety, so after a really bloody and painful fight, Kayla realizes that Jack really loves her (i know she knows that already, but after the fight the idea is reinforced) and realizes that Jack will always be there for her, will protect her, etc. So, in this way the fight wraps up the lose ends.

  21. I have a hunch that it could be Jeff, the crazy ex-boyfriend of Kayla comes back to get her back, and then Jack and Jeff fight for her, Jack wins barely and Kayla forgives him for the threesome.....but then again, things like that don't happen in real life and Joe's been really realistic so far, so could be anything...but yeah, that's a path i would choose if i wanted to wind up stuff, not sure if Joe wants to do that though.

  22. It's one thing to imagine what it would be like, and another to experience it.

Hmm, you do have a point there, with which i totally agree with by the way, i have like a gajillion possibilities in my head that what can happen next, but we'll have to wait and see what Jashley does, speaking of which any idea when's the next chapter coming out, he says it's going to be back on schedule, but i temporarily stopped following the story because of college and other things some months ago, so i have no idea what his schedule is, any idea?

  23. While I didn't really have a problem with the outcome, a couple things bugged me about this chapter.

    1. Jack thinks a lot of intelligent thoughts in his head but he can't articulate them to Tara or Kayla? Even teenagers are capable of saying what they think but smart guy Jack can't put his thoughts into words? Kinda frustrating.

    2. Jack has a right to be pissed at Kayla and, with all the angst in this chapter, it would have been more satisfying to me if he had gotten pissed at her waffling. I know I would have been pissed at her asking "How would you feel watching me with another guy?" Not sure why Jack didn't blow up at that. It's easy enough to tell Kayla the difference is that Tara is someone they BOTH love.

That said, I guess the writing is really good when you make me want to smack the crap out of Kayla for that. ;)

Dude, its hard for some people to express and thoughts and feelings, trust me i know because i'm one of them, there's just so much stuff in our heads it takes effort to distinguish what's what, frustrating? yes, very, you have no idea.

Uhm, yeah would be pretty pissed when Kayla said "how would you feel watching me with another guy?", i mean she said she was ok with it, and now she's being all bitchy because she can't stand the fact Jack slept with someone else? Granted they both care for Tara, but if it was that of a problem for her she should not have agreed to do it in the first place, so what's the rational thing to do here? Kayla slept with someone before she met Jack, Jack now slept with Tara in the form of a threesome, call it even and move one.
