    Okay… so:
I object to having it inferred that I don’t know the difference between fiction and reality. I do. I may at times describe myself as a hobbit, but on official documentation, I tend to go with British, or human if they ask for it (they usually don’t). I object to being expected to feel some kind of additional shame for sexual writing, because frankly, bollocks to that. As someone who has written dark things, and some spectacularly dark themes on despair, I consider that portion of my work falls into the horror/erotica genre, which is perfectly acceptable. While I write fanfiction, a lot of authors who write original fiction have made a lot of money out of that genre. It’s popular enough. No doubt there are people in my life who would be shocked at some of the things I’ve written. Just because I can touch them, doesn’t make a difference. Don’t like, don’t read still applies in their case. I have no intention of changing anything about myself merely for the sake/comfort/enjoyment of others. Ever. Frankly, bollocks to that too. Life is too short for that nonsense. As to you, OP (ForgetMeNaught), I have no idea what you wrote, or of your problems, then or now. I would simply ask that you do not include others in them. You may have changed your mind on what is acceptable, and you are free to do so, but your change in opinion does not mean you should come here and accuse this community of being sordid, distasteful and reprehensible. Nor should you come here and urge others in this community to stop enjoying their activities here. Your issues are your own. I wish the best of luck with them.

Well, at least he made his reasons for leaving clear so all his readers don’t have to wonder? Of course, he also made unfounded judgements and claims about everyone on this site. People he’s never met. I dunno why I’m saying he, maybe it was a woman, or somewhere in between; I’m not sure that matters. I’m not really offended by it, I’m just baffled and incredulous, because of how fricking presumptuous their rant was.
In my case, yes, my family would be shamed if they found out what I write. My family is made up of seventh day adventists and uber catholics and bigots. They’d be ashamed of me if they knew I was a feminist, or if they knew I was pro-choice, or if they knew I didn’t believe in a cosmic hierarchy. Or even if they knew I didn’t completely hate the Canadian prime minister lol. The pro-choice thing would probably horrify them more than the writing smut thing. (My grandmother founded a pro-life movement in our area.)
Writing smut and violence is healthy. Unless you’re a psychopath and what you’re writing is actually your personal memoirs about rape and cannibalism… It’s therapy. At least for me. It’s a way to vent. I hope y’all never feel ashamed of the depraved things you enjoy writing and reading. People on this site are a million times more creative and open-minded and kind and supportive than any of the anti-smut people I’ve known.

@WillowDarkling  Thanks for moving them, I didn’t really want to stop talking about this topic so soon (and have the usual digression).
@SirGeneralSir  With just their post, we don’t know what happened.  Could be something they did, or, they found religion, or it could be a legally pressured sort of thing.
@BronxWench Yep, we’re all adults here, and from the literary perspective, I’d say that bartender would make for a more interesting character.  And I don’t like using the word “porn” because that’s derogatory, IMO, to the works that portray that particular aspect of the human condition.

Yes, I like that. Bright lights. As I’m writing them, I imagine the way they suit each other, and I tend to think of myself as taking a step beyond the Jaime’s and the Daenerys’ and the Jon Snow’s of that world. A step higher, so to speak. I don’t see these characters as broken, or as monsters, or as anything other than human. I do see them as complicated, fascinating, and motivated by some slightly different things. They’re all very strong characters, not just powerful. I think it makes a difference that they all feel so physically invulnerable. It gives them a dimension of personal power that makes them enjoy being together all the more, because when they’re together, that ceases to make a difference. It’s like, as Clegane was thinking earlier, as Tormund believes – they’re all equals.
Aww… I think he’s getting used to those good moods a bit more. Well, he’d better make the most of them. War comes quickly. Snow isn’t going to let the army of the dead get to Winterfell and endanger the lives of people there. They’ll go out to meet it, as soon as the Lannister armies have caught them up.

Oh, Gods… thank you so much!
Oh, he enjoyed himself! And of course, at some point, he’ll get to ask for the same from her. Wonder what he’ll do then… ? Hmm… The slash part was irresistible. Brienne is just as curious about that as she is about how she fits in with them. Each of them, at times, takes on the role of facilitator. Brienne will too, just as Tormund has done. Just as Clegane will do. I really do love the intricacies of writing these relationships, and the balance involved. But above all, to hear that I managed to keep true to their characters is wonderful. Especially since the things they are doing with each other are changing them a little. That’s unavoidable. Brienne probably most of all, although she’s beginning to find her way back to herself in this scene. Those two are too fond of overwhelming her. They won’t get away with it forever, not even when Tormund gets his little dream realised. *g*

Oh, he knows, but Jon Snow has a head full of concerns here, poor bugger. He’s not going to be gossiping about them. He wants the tactic to work, and now so does Clegane. It’s quite clever of him, really. The three of them will be a blow for the Night King if they get through. But there are other surprises to come for Jon Snow that will happen behind the scenes. I’ll try to explain what’s going on in the fic, but he has a part to play yet.
And is it Blackfyre? I don’t know. I don’t know if it’s something I might use later. Possibly…

Oh, Tormund is not wasting time. They don’t have it to waste, unfortunately.
I’m glad you love the Clegane/Brienne so much. I think Brienne is falling deep, and not just for Clegane. She’s not realising how deeply she’s falling for Tormund. When she does, it’ll add a whole other dimension to all of this.
Gosh… if I carry on this way, I’ll be writing for Mills & Boon before the end of the year! *giggles* But seriously, I’m enjoying it so much. I don’t know what I was frightened of when I shied away from heterosexual romance. I remember all the trouble I had when I first started writing Elrond with female characters. I’m glad I did persevere with that. It kind of prepared me a little bit for doing this now, so that I can relax into it.

Ah, yes… I have plans for that boy that will make even Clegane’s recent experience seem like a mere trial run. Arya is going to hear about this “reputation” and decide that she wants to try him out for herself. Clegane will get to see it start as well, which will be kind of funny. But, really, i can’t help it. It just leads in so nicely… poor Podrick. His trouble just gets deeper and deeper… but he’ll be happy by the end.
I think she needed that reassurance, really, and Clegane realised it. I mean, her entire bad mood wasn’t really about not getting what she wanted that morning, but about seeing him not being bothered about it (or not seeming to be). When really, it’s only his greater experience that lends him that extra self-control. Brienne is really quite hard on herself at times. These are big things she’s contending with, and she can’t really expect to suddenly be in control of it all, just like that. But then, I think this is why Clegane and Tormund suit her so well. They’re quite hard themselves. They don’t mind being pushed around a little bit, but they’ve no qualms over telling her when to stop, and they’ll make sure things are going the right way. I said to someone on another site, imagining a character like Brienne, with Jaime Lannister – and there is a whole lot of it out there. And I said, that boy would be on his knees by the end of the first day, as soon as she knew how it worked. And he’d stay there for the rest of his life. When she gets these two on their knees… they have no intention of staying there, lol.

I kind of think Tormund was quite purposeful about the timing there. He likes that wild thing in Brienne. I’m quite sure he sees something wild in Clegane too… it’s just buried a little deeper, and I’m sure he saw it peeking out then, lol.
As Brienne lets go of the last remnants of her nerves, it is going to get deeper. They’re all equally invested in it, which is why it works. None of them feel like they have anything to lose, either. It’ll be interesting to see how things change after the war, when they’ve survived. After the obligatory “Yes! We survived! Let’s all fuck each other!” celebratory scene, lol (that will be great fun!). Other things will start to crop up then, I think. They’re getting a kind of reprieve here, because they believe these are their last days.

Lol… well, I did do a little bit of research into what he might do for this. Seems Brienne played right into his hands. I had a request for this particular chapter from Tormund’s pov, and you’ll find that in the MIssing Scenes as the first post there.
As for that other thing you want… haha… chapter twenty-eight. Yes, he does. But that had to be a possibility, didn’t it? I mean… what with Gendry telling them all about Melisandre tying him to the bed naked, and Clegane piping up to say: “Sounds all right so far.” He was doomed to it in fanfic somewhere. Why not mine?

Oh, yes… sad for them, but they won’t die. None of them will. And I’m really kind of ashamed of myself, but I’m having this massive internal fight with my evil muse at the moment. I find myself in an unusual predicament. Against all the odds, against Gods, and the repeating of history and such things… I want to save them from their fate somehow. I’ve got a whole load of my brain working on it. If there’s a way, while staying true to original vision of the plot, I’m going to do it. I’ve been writing all this nice stuff for them, and I’ve accidentally fallen completely in love with these characters. So much so that I want to let them have a happy ending, even if they have to endure a little bit of heartache on the way.
We shall see. I am so weak.

This means a lot. I’ve written slash for so long, I’d no idea how I was going to do with het fiction, but I’ve really been enjoying it with these three. And I’ve loved particularly writing this slow leading in, letting Brienne’s character get to it properly. She can’t be rushed, word count wise. Although, ironically, in terms of time, this really is fast.

I’m not sure if they’ll ever manage to completely overwhelm her, but they’re going to have a good go. Pretty soon, I think. Well, as far as I am at present, anyway. *g*

Yep, and so Clegane is back at the beginning, only with a slightly angrier Brienne to contend with, lol. Got to admit, I do kind of like seeing him in a bad mood though. It suits him. Luckily, seems like Tormund is always going to be around to wind him up

As an author, I have to agree entirely with @Desiderius Price on this. Fiction is exactly that: fiction. What I write is not reflective of my life, or my beliefs, or my personal desires. I can, like the vast majority of writers, tell the difference between the imaginary worlds I create, and the reality in which I live. Stephen King is a genuinely nice guy in real life. I had a friend who lived on his street, so that is not conjecture, but rather a factual statement. (Not to mention his corgi, who is known as the Thing of Evil… )
The people I love all know what I write, and to be extremely blunt, I don’t write porn. It’s not about the sex, but I don’t always fade to black when sex happens. If people find that upsetting, they are more than free to pass over my work, here and as published. Seriously. I don’t expect everyone to buy my books, and fawn over me (like the rather promiscuous James Patterson, who is the biggest review whore on the planet).
And to be honest, this reminds me of when a bartender I knew decided to go on the wagon, and would lecture me about having a drink while pouring me a double shot when I’d asked for a light drink. It was even more annoying than when he quit smoking, and would lecture me about that habit as well. I’m an adult, and I am responsible for my own life, and own decisions

I agree, wasnt too sure what to make of this but after the 5th time reading it (Yes I did) because something felt off, it sounds like to me that someone has high opinions about things and feels they are icky and sick, well guess what buttercup, thats the real world.
So you told someone it was ok to do bad things ….. your a dick, even if you told them to do good things, its still their choice to or not to do it.
Fiction is just that, fiction, its not real but can use real world things in any number of ways. Its up to the reader/viewer to understand that it is just a story/show/game, if you can not tell the difference, you need to have your head examined.
Frankenstein, Dracula, Sherlock Holmes, The three billy goats gruff, all just stories
I have a story that is and will involve torture, does not mean I want people to suffer from it or to do it myself, its all about plot and story, if anything in a story makes your skin crawl, and its that kind of a story, good job.
if its something simple and just a life style thing or what have you, thats too bad.
there is nothing wrong with making content that is shocking, dismaying, hurtful, appalling, or outrageous. once a pon a time, it was seen as scandalous if a woman showed her ankles, look at the world now.
if you are emulating something from a movie that is hurtful to people or yourself, physically or mentally, yeah get help, but if its just the narrow minded views of someone else, the world will eat them for lunch.

    To the original poster,
Having seen people just vanish, this announcement, in the least, will be around for when others come asking.
Your statement is a rather broad statement, implying that people are incapable of distinguishing fiction vs reality.  That you carried fiction into reality when you shouldn’t have, I do wish you learn from this, but your overall reaction seems a bit of a knee jerk.  If you’re implying what I think you’re implying, that you become what you write/read, then I should be highly suspect of all Agatha Christie or Sherlock Holmes fans as very shady people.
We all have somebody around us who’s on that end of the spectrum where even we try to be “family friendly”, they’d find our work to be irreprehensible.  The only way to avoid that is to simply not write, not create, and the world would be a much duller place.

Folks, I have to apologise. I saw the thread title on the front of the forum as last updated and didn’t look closely enough at the subforum, or twig on reading previous posts somehow, that this topic was posted in the LOTR slash subforum. My post was therefore unforgivably off topic and so I apologise. I am however laughing at Pippychick’s plot suggestion with a very odd mental image of a confused Shadowfax. Confused horse faces are the best. I don’t know that I’ll ever write much again.
    Getting back onto topic:
For my slash OTP I am pretty traditional with the Legolas/Gimli pairing and all the fine old dwarf tossing activity it undoubtedly entails.
A brief search of the archive does show a Shadowfax slash pairing for any interested – The Rider of Rohan – though as I’ve not had chance to read it myself yet I cannot say how good it is.
