  2. When I pick a name for a character, I try to think of 'meaning' associate with their personality along with their family heritage. Maybe she could have a "great grandmother's" name that would be a quirky? A site I use as reference for names is babynames.com (go into 'advance search' for the following options) where you can find names based on gender, where it comes from, and the meaning you're looking for. I'm curious, what does your character look like? Since it's an Advengers/Captain America fic, does your character have any special abilities/powers/techniques? Also, what is her relationship with her family/parents? Sometimes names can have special meanings such as: her father picked her name, which she cherishes since he passed away, or a nickname from her name (same as mother, or someone close to her).
  3. When it comes to reviews, I used to be hurt to hardly get any when I first started on out FF.Net (at about age 12 or 13). But then, as I grew and got older I started noticing how when I did get reviews, they would influence my writing. Instead of writing for me, I was writing to please my readers which would change the entire plot/tone of my story in a direction I didn't like. So I quit. Years later, I've come back with a different perspective: I don't care about reviews. Sure, they're great to get or know that someone is enjoying your writing, but I'm not going to let reviews or the number I get put me in a down place. I use writing to getting away from the real world, as hobby, a way to express myself during difficult times. My feelings, thoughts and emotions comes out in my characters when I write since I've experienced what they have. Now, I'm writing for me; not my readers, not my reviewers. You get what I give you. It may sound a little harsh but it's honest. When I do get reviews, I favor those that aren't afraid to speak their mind and point out errors. I love criticism and tips for improvement. That's why when I review, I tend to be the same way by helping the author improve if they'd like.
  4. Everyone has been asking me, "So what's it like being married?" My honest reply is: everything is still the same. The only thing that 'feels' different is the overwhelming happiness from publicly declaring "this is my best friend".

  5. Chapter Twenty up after a small hiatus from getting married.
  6. I believe that the Chik-fil-a issue has been blown out of proportion by not only the people, but also the media. All people are entitled to their opinion but it is up to the person receiving the message to understand if it is 'right' or 'wrong' due to their own moral codes. Gay Marriage is a huge issue across the board and multiple foundations that are against it (for example: Religious institutes, Urban Outfitters, Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobile, Salvation Army source ) have been boycotted against and havoc wrecked. It was now Chik-fil-a's turn to be in the hot seat. Why? Because of his [Cathy's] opinion, to which he is entitled. Not everyone is all hunky-dorry about Gray Marriage, and should also have that right to state their opinion when asked. To me, it looks like a political mud slinging war except with humans rights (which we've had plenty recently, especially with other issues including birth control and abortion trying to be outlawed). I'm sure not many have heard of how much the LDS church was against gay marriage, or the THOUSANDS of dollars they donated against gay marriage for Prop8 in California. So what makes Chik-fil-a so different for the other organizations donated against gay marriage? Nothing. I think the whole issue was handled like a child throwing a tantrum. They're against gay marriage, so what? That's their opinion and right to be against it. Not everyone believes the same thing, which is called diversity! Without diversity, we'd all be the same mindless clones. So, what is it people expect? All these ideas of wanting to be 'equal' yet being a hypocrite when someone expresses their rights. If you don't like it, then don't support it. When I find out that a company or corporation is against something I find morally unethical, I stop supporting that company. I don't make a HUGE deal out of it, drag it through the media, or take pictures of myself protesting/eating at company. The only issue I was a little irritated about was the lie about the Jim Henson Company by Chik-fil-a claiming the toys were recalled due to them being unsafe for children. Why not be truthful and state the Henson Company does not want to do business with Chik-fil-a due to their opinion? On a business perspective, it was a bad move. I wouldn't have brought my personal opinion to light, but ironically it worked in their favor (their company got media attention, and sales rose due to the 'war' of protest/supporting the company). But when it comes down to it, I think this media war was used to get people's minds focused on that instead of real issues at hand. There are other issues that people should be standing up against instead of over a company donating or opinion. What about current bills or executive orders being passed under our noses? Has anyone heard or read about the UN Gun Control Treaty? What about the health care issues? Or the woman's right issues going on in America right now? What about the next Presidential election? 8. To add to this: -Not all lesbians are "feminazis"; just like in all groups, regardless of sexual preference, there are extremists that push the barrier to give a group a bad name. With that stated, not all lesbians are feminists; this is a large misconception created by bigots, the media, and negativity spread that being a 'feminist' is bad. -Not all women are bi, or bi-curious before becoming lesbians; there are those that know from the start without experimenting what gender they like. -Not all lesbian women hate or despise men due to a negative experience; yes, a negative experience can add toward the feelings of being uncomfortable/fear/mental instability, but with psychological help anyone is able to resolve most of their issues. -Not all lesbian women believe women are great lovers; in general what usually makes a 'great lover' are the emotional feelings and attachments you have toward your partner as you share yourself with each other. This is also typically referred to as squirting: "the expulsion of noticeable amounts of clear fluid by human females from the paraurethral ducts through and around the urethra during or before an orgasm." 9. I agree with reriddle on the points that every person in the relationship should be consenting. An example of that kind of relationship is showed on the HBO show 'Big Love' that shows what it possibly could be like if a polygamy did exist out in the open in modern society. There are a lot of negativity associated with the ideas of multiple spouses, but that's all stemming from the horrible compounds from those taking another's right of choice away. Ironically, I lived in Utah for a while and you can still see the compounds in certain areas (seeing is believing, drive south of SLC toward Nephi like you're heading to St. George). From the freeway you can see it, or you could even take a gander at randomly driving some of the off shoot dirt roads. Anyway, my point is the negativity shouldn't outweigh a person's right to practice what they'd like. If that's what you want to do, then by all means have it. It your life, whatever makes you happy!
  10. Thank you very much! Glad there was a way to remedy the situation.
  11. Hello, I was unsure whom to contact but I am continually getting an error each time I try to change my password on AFF forums that states: "You must complete the entire forum". I have tried changing it, then logging out, and re-logging in but that doesn't work, and I've tried clearing my cache/cookies before logging in to try again. Lastly, I tried using another browser as an extra pre-caution. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Aqua

  14. I'm late on this topic, but I recently joined AFF with the intentions of broadening my writing spectrum due to the current place my fics reside (aka, not allowed to have adult content or be sexually explicit). I have at least a handful I can slowly begin to edit and move over to this website for Sailor Moon fans ^^ Hopefully I can get some more authors on board to come on over!
