  1. 4 and 2 drive me crazy. 2 not so much since the authors who tend to do this don't have very good stories anyway (or so I have found). 4, though, I can't stand it when I see people doing this and often stop reading their stories. If you are going to take the time to write a story do it because you enjoy writing, not because you love the attention. 3 can be irritating too. Chapter size is completely dependent on the author's opinion, but come on! I've read updates before that were only a paragraph or so long. That's just mean.
  2. Personally, if there is something in it I can use (a critique of some kind, no matter how negative) to better my writing or my story then I don't see it as a flame. However if it contains no actual help at all and is just one great big insult to me, then I see that as a flame. I mean, a reader can hate my story all they want, but please tell me why. If they don't give their reasons (and they have to be real reasons, no "I hate it because you suck") then it's a flame.
  3. I agree with what most others have already said here. The way a word is used or the context around it is what helps make it a turn on or not. There are certain words, however, no matter how they are used, that still completely throw me off (who ever thought that "magic stick" was a good name for a penis should be slapped in the face with one). There are words I do like to see used more often than others. Cock, for example. Dick is all right, but cock sounds more sexy to me (actually, I am willing to go as far to say that I love the word cock ). Pussy is okay, unless it's used too much. Sometimes I find one character calling another character "Daddy" very erotic, but that has more to do with context because there are other times when a character says it and I'm like "ew..." As long as the words a writer chooses are not too out there ("love box" or "man-meat" for example) then the words don't matter as much as the quality of the writing surrounding them.

    ...They forgot?

I don't mind if a reader reviews multiple times if each time they give me something new to work with, a helpful critique or pointing out a spelling error, something like that. However, if it was the same old "nice work, please update soon" every time then that would get irritating.
  5. I like it when people take the time to review but the one liners ("this is so good" "please write more") don't help me at all. Writing is just a hobby for me, but I would still like to get better at it and comments like these don't offer anything. At the least it would be nice for readers to tell me what they like or did not like. Just a little something I can use to improve my work. I appreciate every review I get but it's frustrating sometimes when all you get are the "OMG this is great! please update!" kind of reviews. At lease AFF isn't as bad as some other fanfic sites (fanfiction.net being the worst, but I always blamed that on the ton of younger readers there). Still, whenever I review a story I always try to give the author some critique, be it pointing out typos or simply telling them what I liked about their work, because I understand that a single one of these reviews is worth more to the author than 10 "this is great!" one liner reviews.
  6. What I would do was copy them (frow WordPad, nothing fancy) and paste them in the text area, then post the chapter. Like I said, I think it has more to do with my computer than actual problems with the site.
  7. I know it's not any of your faults, but whenever I try to edit my works this annoying pop-up appears asking me if I want to stop running the script or else my computer could become unrespondsive (which it then does). My computer is just old and slow. So it has nothing to do with anything you've done. Actually I understand your reasons for changing to a Rich Text Editor. It's just now my computer slows to the point of almost freezing up if I even try to edit one of my stories. Like I said, I know my computer's on the old side of things but I don't have this problem with the editor over at fanfiction.net. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read through my little rant/pout. I keep trying to edit my story and it just doesn't want to work. It's enough to frustrate me to tears.
