Heck, the 2016 is still open to posting.

Well, gardens do much better with fertilizers.

DP, no, no, no…  It’s the writers writing the villains from previous experience who have the most fun...  I mean <glances shiftily around>, no, I don’t have bodies in the backyard...  No, never…  I don't know what you’re talking about...

@Avaloyuru  Villains have most of the fun.

Ah.  Yes, that can definitely be a problem when you’ve got into the minds of your protagonists…

I started writing it four days ago.  I’m now working on Chap 4, with quite a ways to go, unfortunately.
Now it’s time to switch gears so to speak.  I’ve written most of the ‘groundwork’ in the first 3 Chaps.  Now it’s time to change my entire mindset and jump into the villain. Therein lies the glitch

Lol.  Ah, the brick wall...  I've headbutted it a few times, but I think that might be the problem in my case

I’ve just hit a brick wall in this story. I tried to go to bed, but my muse will not shut up

Yeah.  Been there, done that, bought the summer t-shirt and ballcap in the middle of winter...  I think staring at the computer and having your mind blank is actually worse, at least to me...  (at least posted wrong, someone will still read it...  And be confused...)

I know what you mean!!  I’ve been looking at this computer screen for 17 hours straight, my mind feels like it’s a blank, but I can’t sleep!

Oh, I rarely read in HP, unless it’s Pittwitch’s stuff. No, no, I have a few in LotR which are dark indeed. Like http://lotr.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=544193029 or http://lotr.adult-fanfiction.org/story.php?no=600080114 ...

@Desiderius Price Absolutely. There are a few on my Recommended Reading, and Fav Authors, but that just scratches the surface. I don’t have all my darker favs listed. People won’t sit next to me in the forum if I list those…

Eh, there are some stories which beg for editing, to be sure, but on the whole, there are some incredibly good writers here, and I’d like to think it helps us all rise to be our best.

Don’t worry @Avaloyuru … @BronxWench can likely tell you tales of stories in the archives that basically proclaim “huk’d on fonix werked fer me!”

Thanks @BronxWench I needed that!  This is a special story to me for that reason and because it reveals “my view” of Thranduil and his world.
But I do agree there are some intimidating writers here!  Once I get comfortable, I will be fine!  I am having a blast writing this story!

I will confess, I was terrified when I posted my first story here. I was SO sure I was going to be the worst writer on the site, and I was absolutely too intimidated to even go near some of the fandoms I adore, because I was sure I’d never measure up to some of the canon scholars in those fandoms.
From the other side of that divide, you’ll be fine.

I think right now @CloverReef my problem is struggling with developing the suspense yet not giving away too many details, LOL   I’ve already written the outline of the story, I’m just filling it all in.
There is also the self-inflicted added pressure of this being my first story for this site, it will set the pace so to speak for the stories that follow.

Definitely same for me at least. Sometimes the movie in my head gets too far ahead that I totally forget or lose interest in the part I’m writing because I’ve already been through it lol. That’s usually a sign that I should re-plan that scene though because I really shouldn’t lose interest in the events so quickly when I want the reader to be interested!

I think if you’re finding your style changing so quickly that it’s affecting your editing, that’s a good sign. Sure, some changes can be instilling bad habits, but most will likely be learning and finding what works for you. Evolving your writer's intuition. It’s so exciting! Probably frustrating too, but still exciting, lol.

Yes, @Desiderius Price I’m sure it’s the same for everyone.  But my fingers can’t keep up with the movie that is playing in my mind as I write.
