Collaborating pushed me to keep writing, but it never felt like I was being forced, because it was always enjoyable.  The other person might come up with an idea that I hadn’t thought of, so it was always rather exciting waiting for the other person to send me what they wrote, and it would invariably inspire me with my writing in turn.  I used to roll play Star Trek back in the day, via email.  We’d have our characters, write our post and email it to the email address, which would then get sent on to everyone on the list.  I miss that, as well.
I’ve never really understood how some people could advertise for someone, anyone, to collaborate with.  It’ll always be better with someone you know and respect, I think.

I write collaboratively with two people, and I enjoy it. It’s interesting, and very different. The stories are miles apart, and the styles are hugely opposite, but somehow, it works. And honestly, it does goad me to write, which has been an issue for me lately.

I completely get it. There’s only one person I feel comfortable collabing with and that’s because our preferences sort of compliment each other so the compromises we have to make are minimal and our writing styles were quite similar. But it seems like a rare thing to find. I miss it to. I feel ya!

I don’t think that’s odd.  Writing by committee isn’t normally a highly rated activity.

Villians tend to have more fun in movies than the hero (except for the ending, that’s when it sucks to be the villian).

DP: Don’t worry about it, none of my MCs ever like me.  Sometimes I’m worried I’ll get sucked into their worlds a la Pagemaster style and they’ll get their revenge on me…

Could not agree more if I tried. Reminds me of the Native American theory about the Age of Chaos where the world undergoes a massive shift that causes a lot of folks major grief and headaches. It’s part of the full Black Snake Prophesy stuff. The Age of Chaos is the make or break point for all life on land. So not a pleasant thought.

2017 is a year I’m glad to have behind me. The gods know it was a disaster from start to finish.

LOL DP!  BW – my Twitter was hijacked by some troll in France of all places.  I’ve managed to shut it down but I can’t seem to get it to reset to ENGLISH.  I don’t speak enough French to navigate well.  Why in the name of all that is holy did this schmoo want my Twitter account/email address.  Yes, my address is still attached so I can see it trying to regain control.

Maybe the recent bitter cold forced them out of their caves?

Seems to be open TROLL season everywhere.   Not just here.  

Ah, I saw ours, and have dealt with the initial onslaught, as least for what I can do. Feel free, dear witch, to do what I’ve done.

Oh, dear… should I ask?

I don’t know how I’d handle truly cold weather.  The coldest winter day time temperature here is maybe 10C degrees, and even then I honestly can’t remember the last time it got down that low.  A 15C degree day is a bloody cold one to me.  So sub zero would probably freak me out.  It would be fun to experience, but probably for a few seconds only, and then I’d be awful keen to find a nice roaring fire nearby. lol

Honestly, this whole conversation is beginning to make me wonder whether Melrick will actually survive his first visit to a snowy, cold place  or if it will just be like, Melrick steps off the plane, gets all the way to the exit of the airport and then just goes, “Nope, fuck this shit, it’s too cold...” and then turns around and goes back home to Hell… ::cough, cough:: I meant, Australia…
