Update: Chapter 08 Part 1 Hello World, I have finally come around to adding a real chapter in this story as part one from 08: The Woodland Snare. A few things to discuss concerning this chapter and how it developed into what it was, starting with its start from the last completed chapter, to Welkin losing focus in it, to what is to come next. Now, the writing of this most recent update did immediately begin after the completion of the last update. It was a very long but well-thought-out process of many months. I think it ultimately paid off. I never claim to be a good writer, and I certainly don’t think this one was a masterpiece, but as far as my writing goes, I think this is one of the better chapters. Even if it is only one part to it. As for why it had taken so long to write what is included in this update, I’ve been distracted is all. Other than the usual life stuff, which is pretty manageable and good right now, I decided to write other stuff, and play very long video games in between writing this. Projects on other sites for writing, and writing some Neptunia fanfic on this site really put my time elsewhere whenever it became time to write. I have no regrets. lol Now, I feel like I did promise that Welkin would be getting a lot more screen time in this chapter. After all, I need to find a way to make him a certified alpha male in Squad 7. That fell apart at some point in this chapter. Marina, being as enigmatic as she is, captured my imagination a bit, and I found a wave, and rode it. It meant taking a lot of creative liberties, because I have no idea what life is like in the fictional nation of Gallia, but I think it paid off. I would like to know anyone’s opinion on it. With Marina taking up so much time in this one though, I think it’s fair I bring Welkin back as the focus in the next part. The story arc I was trying to build was around Marina’s hunt. She hunts as a little girl and feels bad for killing the deer, and later, it was supposed to Welkin NOT Ted at the end that gets some Marina action, because he felt sorry for the deer Marina kills at the end. This is not how it played out. I had a REALLY hard time at the end making Welkin work with Marina without having to complete cheese it. Like, cheese it more than I did with Ted and all the other cheese I have with most sex sequences in this story, but way more than usual. So I kicked Welkin going all the way with Marina here, in favor of remembering someone “rooting for Ted.” Well, here’s his time to shine. I can always have Welkin and Marina have a go later… Like maybe in the cabin with him instead of Alicia? That’s where the final part of this update come up; where it goes from here. Well, it goes to the actual The Woodland Snare chapter. I got so carried away with Marina, that I haven’t even gotten to ambush Squad 7 with horny Imperial soldiers yet. Haha! But as fun as it will be to have Alicia get gangbanged by a bunch of Imperial men because of a sprained ankle, I think I lack the creativity for it. So it may be a very game-canon approach, unless a good spark hits me while writing. And I will get to work writing right away. So if there are any ideas for the woodland snare, let me know now. With any luck, I can create a writing schedule that allows me to contribute ample enough time to have the next update ready before the end of next month. Assuming I don’t occupied with more video games. With that, I’ll leave all y’all to enjoy. -JPR
