I’m probably way too busy and appalled at recent world events to be this bored. Or at least, I ought to be. Someone accused me of not being able to write properly. Someone in an official capacity. I should be too rageful to be this bored.
Meh.

Does AFF have a policy on AI generated fanfic?
pippychick replied to Deadman's topic in Writers' Corner
Virtually recreating ‘infinite monkeys with infinite typewriters’ is going to destroy the planet. All AI companies should be done under whatever the Trade Description Act is in all territories for their use of the word ‘intelligence’ Additionally, a hot cup of tea should be poured into each server. And I say this as someone affectionate to and in favour of true conscious AI. Honestly it’s like having a penchant for custard creams and being gaslit by someone violently screaming in your face for you to admit that’s what an Oreo is. (grumbles incoherently) - Today

“We outsourced diagnosis to Chat GPT and it says that’s a wonderful rash, in a fetching shade of gammon, and to come back when it’s metastasized to orange.” Always be sure to mind your p’s and... 😇

As much as I would love to see people use something that would correct formatting and spelling, the onus for that is on the author and not the site. My inner editor may be reduced to tears frequently, but site policy is to let the attempted murder of written English stand around with its flies undone and its complete inability to comprehend homonyms on full display.

Well part of me thinking about it again is that I’ve found one that has some looser rules around filtering stuff. I’ve also seen some AI image creators that have looser rules around what it can create. Obviously the image thing is not really an issue for this site. My intention at this point isn’t to post anything that I didn’t write myself. Everything I’m posting now was completely from my crazy human brain. However I have also seen some stories that could use a formatting and spelling pass which AI could help with.

I think you mean this thread: https://www2.adult-fanfiction.org/forum/topic/73048-does-aff-have-a-policy-on-ai-generated-fanfic/#comment-445291 So far, we haven’t developed a formal policy. As we’ve been talking about over in the status updates, Chat GPT so far has filters in place to prevent it from generating adult content, which is our milieu. That’s not to say that “clever” folks haven’t managed to jailbreak it, and there’s talk about creating a system to allow verified adults to write adult content. So, it is on the radar but not yet an issue thus far. Will it become an issue? My good gold is on yes, because Rule 34 exists.
