And by housework, I do mean moving all of *her* shit out of the way. Because it’s getting on my nerves.

Well, I have about 5.5k words of filth that might get posted at some point tonight. Commencing read throughs.

Christmas is canceled, and I know I'm getting into hot water over this.

I have been having an issue with uploading images to the Internet for a few weeks now.  I couldn’t figure out what was going on.  It began with Tumblr – quite a while ago, to be fair.  Then, little by little, it spread to other web sites I frequented.  If I tried to upload a screen capture or update a profile image, I was thrown an error.  Eventually, any site I tried to upload an image file to was throwing the error.
I finally figured out what the problem is.  It’s the browser I was using.
For some reason, Microsoft Edge, in its infinite wisdom, began prohibiting me from uploading image files to any site on the web.  I don’t know if the screw-up is linked to a browser update or what (OS Creators updates, perhaps? *shrugs*). But I know Edge is responsible, because after I updated Firefox to the Quantum version (Firefox 57) I gave it a test drive, using it to upload an image to the web.  Guess what?  It worked exactly as it should have.  Without hesitation, I changed my default browser to the new Firefox.
I am a Windows Dork from the word go – always have been.  But sometimes my loyalty is tested.  There is absolutely no reason the goof-up for which Microsoft Edge is responsible should be happening.  I use that browser with zero extensions installed.  It’s my control browser: I use it to show me what web sites look like and behave in their native form, without browser add-ons restricting tracking/logging or metadata addition or applet execution (note: pop-up blocking is MS Edge default behavior.).  I employ Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 in the same capacity.  If I want add-ons and extensions to sanction my web activity, I install them in Chrome, Firefox and Opera.
I'm actually bummed that I have to use a different browser as my default.  Microsoft’s hard work on MS Edge is not lost in translation.  It’s a very practical browser, a powerful tool that I use with enthusiasm.  But Microsoft needs to do better before I switch back to using Edge as my default.
Okay, I’m done ranting. 

 
 

So I had 400 words to go on NaNoWriMo, and I couldn’t think of what else to write. Then my wife says, “Write a sex scene. You might as well play to your strengths.”
There is now a sex scene. And I’m at 50,000!

It feels so great to be back on my desktop! I was in Alabama for the Thanksgiving holiday and I just… I am MUCH more comfortable in my own home (as I should be, right)! 

Thinking of doing a penname change. Just feel like it’s time to evolve from the old CloverReef. I mean… I’ve been CloverReef for… about a decade I guess. It probably seems weird to some people, who are perfectly content identifying with one pen name their whole lives, but for me, as I grow and shift, how I identify tends to grow and shift too. 
I do have a pen name in mind. But I’m debating whether I should wait until I finish posting my current chaptered story or not.

Finally caught up on NaNoWriMo yesterday. Looks like I’m gonna make it! Now I just have to think of what to write about for the next 4 days, but I’ll figure it out.

I now have both a Google Home Mini and an Amazon Echo Dot set up in my bedroom.  It’s as weird as it might seem.  Next, I will find compatible hardware in order to engage Cortana in a likewise fashion.  Watch me go! 

Some days I really miss the old Shout Box. I used to get great title help in there from the users. Now I’m stuck trying to title my own stupid books.

It’s been an adventure these last couple of weeks!!  I realize that Fan-Fic doesn’t have to (and usually doesn’t) follow the original script put forth by their chosen author.
However, in my situation with Tolkien, there are so many gaps which create an exceptionally fertile ground to go whatever direction I choose, especially when the main character is Thranduil.
Not to mention that I’m incorporating some ancient ‘original works’ of mine into this entire storyline.  I should call it “The Saga of Thranduil”  LOL  I need my head examined!!
When I hit my wall in the story and started working on another one, I actually created more work for myself.  The new one I started was supposed to be a OneShot PWP that ended up being a 6 Chapter back-story on the 3 chapters I had already written.
The extra work comes in because now I need to rewrite a few sections in the first story to incorporate this new back-story because I absolutely love the direction the back-story took!

Well, it’s late but I finally posted my Halloween story. I’m sorry, it’s crappy but anyway...Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, I am really struggling with this chapter. It’s mostly written, but… I had a specific format in mind, and I’ve kept to it, but it feels off, like I’ve inadvertently ruined the pacing. That’s odd, because I wanted to write this format to have a clear break between the prior slow burn/consummation vs the lead in to the war, which would require a change in pacing.
*scratches head*
As I check the word count, it seems like if I finish off the chapter as I planned, I might still have some room to play with it. I wonder if there’s some little aspect I can add that will make it work better. Hmm… *thinks*
Some of this chapter is written from the limited pov of the Lord of Light, and I’m hesitant to use that pov to do anything to regulate pacing, mood or atmostphere. It seems too transparent and heavy handed to do that. Probably because if I do that, it’d lead to a feeling of discontent in the reader. I’m not giving much away. If I use the pov like that, you’d expect to see more of the pov character’s motivations. Yet the other pov characters (the three of them) are dreaming, so I can’t use them. Beric is awake, but he’s being haunted. He’s also not a pov character.
I suppose I’ll feed the dogs while I think. This is a quandary. If I can’t fix it, I’m going to have to chuck it and think of something else altogether. But this felt right when I started it. Grrr!

Got my computer back now.  Microsoft Windows 10 updates are the spawn of the devil.

First time ever, got a holiday story written early! Annnnd now I have to wait a month. Fuck me.

It is cold, cloudy and blustery day today, and I don't feel like doing any of the shit I need to get done before Thanksgiving.

There's a reason I don't write oneshots...  Because I never stop at one...  They're like bloody Pringles!!!  And then they turn into new projects...  Adding to a very large array of projects...  And again I've got another started...  Lol.  However, it is proving to myself I am capable of crossing genres...  So that's something!!

Currently wrestling with Tormund. He’s winning. Good job it’s not literally.
For a character who seems pretty simple on the surface, even in his own thoughts, this one is ridiculously deep. In fact, out of the three, he’s probably got a whole lot more going on than the other two once you dig down a bit.
I think it’s time for that last resort in getting right into a character: the fictional interview.
I kind of hate writing these, but in the absence of anyone to discuss it with, it’s the next best thing.
At least when this is done, I can drag them off to war. That should make for an interesting journey. All that sharing a tent business, the imperative need to stay absolutely silent no matter what… that will be fun for someone, I’m sure. Ok, that’s my reward! If I can just get over this little hurdle now…
