Finding out you're pregnant and already halfway done with a bare minimum of signs, despite suspicions and at home tests saying negative. It's surprising how much I take after my mother in the odd things - strange allergies, talking to animals and children like there's no doubt they'll understand me, pregnancy with very few signs and the baby tending to lay near my back....

Meanwhile, we're both concerned by the imminent spoiling. There are already four boys in this generation; this will be the first girl. Okay, might actually still be twins, considering the half-assed ultrasound, but I still have to have an echo done to check for heart murmurs (runs in the family), and twins often hide from ultrasounds anyway. *shrug* Twins is actually what most of us were at least half expecting me to end up with, so.... Not that it'll lessen the love for a single chil...

He's happy, too, although we both wanted to smack his mom and grandma for thinking we weren't happy about it. We're very pragmatic and tend to take things as they come, and for some reason they thought the lack of giddy enthusiasm meant we were unhappy about it. Sitting there thinking, "Gee, didn't know our every emotion had to be visible." I thought they'd at least appreciate the relative lack of hormonal pregnant mood swings, but....

Well, I won't say there's not a certain amount of irony in the timeline here, but all in all, it could have been much worse. So far, I'm pretty happy. Husband freaked out for a bit - "OH GOD, the things we'll have to buy!" - but I stopped him cold on that and pointed out just how many people would be giving us stuff for the baby. (And it turns out I underestimated the number, which surprised me.)

Mom's breaded garlic chicken recipe: smash hit the night before Thanksgiving. No one else was thinking about dinner, so it's a good thing I made 3 pans.
-
Got my first buck--8 pointer, too. ((don't tell anyone I hit it w/ the car))

Lol. One of the guys I drive around for work is a deer magnet, I swear - I've had two try to run into me when I had him. The doe actually hit me (she panicked and ran after I was nosing past her, hit the side of the SUV); the buck was trying to run from Mr. Deer Magnet (walking to meet us) and nearly ran head-on into the front of the SUV. Sad when you're going 5mph and have to stop because you think the deer's going to hit you.

Wondering whether to make Mom's potato soup or breaded garlic chicken....
-
XD My mother's potato soup is so thick that I tend to warn people, "It could probably be called potato gravy." But it's one of two potato soup recipes that my man likes, at all; the other is his grandmother's, but I don't have that recipe.
The garlic chicken, on the other hand, is breaded with crushed saltine crackers instead of boxed bread crumbs, which makes it softer and seems to spread the flavor better.
Decisions, decisions.

The joys of being floored by a difficult period....
-
I don't always get warnings, but usually I get warnings anywhere from 2 days in advance...to a week ahead of time. It's irritating.
Once, it was two weeks ahead, because my period was a week late. THAT was irritating.
Mostly I just ache like hell for a day or two beforehand and then really suffer for the first 24-72 hours. It varies.

Cram school for trucking is miserable. Everybody gets sick, but you still have to cram.

Well, I'm starting to catch up on it. Key word is "starting," of course. I'm sitting at the hotel, waiting for my man to get his CDL. He'd have had it yesterday, except he isn't used to starting out in third gear so he didn't realize the gear shift wasn't all the way in and the truck stalled. Auto fail. XP

Ugh! Being happy makes me crap at writing angst! :/ Angst is usually my forte but now I have got my life reasonably together and am seeing someone (first time in a looong time!) aparently I can only write slushy romantic rubbish. >:/ This is annoying me!
