Okay, Lieven Baert might be what you're looking for. I used to reference him in undergrad :(

Try this:

Try him. He does period dances. If I'm not mistaken he was the brains behind the dancing to "Mr. Beveridge's Maggot" from the BBC's Pride and Prejudice" as well as "Emma" with Paltrow.

Try these:

Is that what you were looking for?

Also, FYI, Louis XIV was a connoisseur of ballet...sooooo, that being said you look look up things on him, or a movie about him?

Thanks for the resources, Sasha. They're quite informative.

That said, I was mainly looking for examples of text, writers' descriptions of dancing scenes.

Oooooooooooooh, check out any writing you can find online by Mia Michaels, Twyla Tharp and Isadora Duncan!

I find their writing to best the best descriptions of feelings, movements etc. associated with dance.

Um, not sure how much help this will be, but you could try watching vid's of dances you like, then try to describe them yourself? For those of us not overly familiar with some particular dance moves, to say a character does a move by name rarther than by description might be a little confusing.
